He was openly injecting under them and they didn’t know. And PR what about Melbourne’s blatant and graphic salary cap rorting that made international headlines. What excuses have you got for that.

No excuse they cheated and were found and out and suitably punished. As was Howe, as was the drug cheats at Cronulla (minus the suitable punishments). But back to the point, surely fresh off a systemic drug cheating fiasco the new board and CEO wouldn't have been stupid enough to deliberately then cheated the salary cap would they? I thought Gorman was supposed to be good at his job?

Surely after being found out as the worse drug cheats in the games history the club wouldn't be so stupid as for the new regime to jump straight into salary cap cheating would they?
Bwahahahah.......cheated our way to 15th spot in the year in question. For that I sincerely apologize. If only Dank had spent a sixth year at the Sea-Eagles rather than plying his trade at the Sharks for 10 weeks.

But if 6 months ago an investigation into your past dealings began you'd turf those wouldn't you?

If any merkin has incriminating stuff from 2015 it'll be on the level of dumb with Parra putting it in their minutes.
Oh god yes. Just pointing out that getting a new phone doesn't necessarily delete your texts.

That stuff is backed up on a server depending on who your provider is. Even if it’s deleted from the phone, it’s still on the network

Mandatory data retention laws require they're held for 2 years. Those laws only came into effect in 2017. I'd be concerned if the NRL could get access to that.

Thats only metadata too so no email, SMS or conversation content.

NRL Integrity Unit interviews Cronulla players over cap drama

DEAN RITCHIE, The Daily Telegraph

THE NRL Integrity Unit has travelled to Cronulla for lengthy player interviews about the club’s ongoing salary cap investigation.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that two integrity unit employees interviewed a host of Sharks players, many being among the club’s elite.

It is understood the players were questioned about any alleged third-party payments.

Cronulla players contacted were tight-lipped about being interviewed.

NRL officials continue to investigate Cronulla’s alleged salary cap irregularities during 2015 and 2017.

Players told friends and partners about the Integrity Unit interviews but were essentially asked to keep the visit private.

The NRL has not offered any time frame on when the investigation will be completed.

NRL management on Tuesday offered no comment when asked about the matter, other than to say it was an “ongoing investigation.”

Cronulla’s salary cap issues were first raised by The Daily Telegraph in August when club chief executive Barry Russell self-reported what was a possible breach.

Russell is understood to have discovered suspicious payments during a club instigated governance review and immediately informed the NRL integrity unit.

A number of club servers were also impounded by the NRL at the time.

There are no suggestions that the club’s famous 2016 title could be stripped.

The investigation has centred around undeclared third-party payments in 2017.

*Breaking*

I have a transcript from one of today's interviews, I've omitted the names for obvious reasons:

Q: at any time did you arrive home to find a boat in your driveway?
A: no
Q: did you arrive home to find a new kitchen?
A: no
Q: what do you think of the new Premiership logo?
A: it's ok I guess

I work in IT
I’m just wondering how many “ servers” a footy club can get impounded.
I find it very hard to believe they can have more one or two ( the second being a backup )
And I find it extraordinary that any business would let anyone but the freakin FBI take away “Servers”.
Firstly, without them none of the other computers on the network would be able to access the company’s day to day data.
Therefore the entire joint wouldn’t be able to open.

I was joking about the FBI bit before some dope has a melt down.
The Aussie cops will do.
