Man there's some painful memories here ...

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...ale-of-woe-in-nrl-finals-20160916-grib48.html

I remember every game except the 73 GF, and was at many of these games too.
If you ever need to remind yourself what a hardy bunch Sharks supporters are.

Of course this year will be different !?!?
If we play our best in the last 2 games, we are definitely in with a good shot.
We will need some luck to go our way though (and we bloody well deserve some after 50 years !!!)

i can find a reason for nerly every one of those finals.
There were very few that we actually had a realistic chance of winning the GF
88 was our worst fail ever. Next was 95 loss to Newcastle.
All the others we were no chance. 73 close but not good enough. 78 rorted by Hartley.
99 no way were going to beat the double salary cap Dragons with unlimited interchange & the no salary cap Storm.
2008 Storm were 1.5 million over cap & Eagles were juiced up by Dank.
2001 we should have played Newcastle in GF not the Prelim but the dumb system wrecked that. parra had Jason f**king Talyor as half back.!!

Yep all fair points.

78, 88 & 99 are the ones that hurt the most for me.
78 because we were robbed by corruption.
88 because we blew it.
99 because we would have done Melb in the GF.

99 for me. I cried
I didn't cry - but I remember being numb after the game. I didn't drink that much either, I think from then on, I lost a lot of hope, especially the years before that in the 80's. I remember that game they played Brisbane in 1989 in the prelim, one of the best games I can remember but failed again. they were on fire that night.
The other season I rue probally more than 1999 was 2001 - Preston Campbell on song and his partner in crime Peach or the dark sharks as we were referring to them. There was a buzz about the place. Belted the tripe out of C'bury not long after 9/11 which was pretty raw at the game, considering a minutes silence and the Dogs supporters yelling out and all, only the get done by Andrew Johns in that pre-lim, we got through that and who knows, but Johns being Johns....played ordinary in the first half but came out and turned the game on its head....dunno what magic water he was on but it wasn't TANG.
anyway rambling now....

78 nearly killed me. 88 flailed me vigorously across the Botox. 2001 was fugged, as was 97 & 02.

The 99 loss to the Flagons however, was like having both my nuts pulled out through the eye of me dick (such was the pain).

its all one big blurry horror story

hardest seasons to take for me

95
vs Manly - cliff Lyons intercept, he deadset knocked it on
vs Newcastle - ben sammut field goal misses by a coat of paint

96
vs Brisbane - that beautiful scrum play putting peachey in
vs Manly - not scoring a point

99
vs Dragons - mundine

03
our coach wins GF with panthers and a number of our players including Preston

08
Greg bird glassing incedent plays out
Seymour stiched up in cronulla mall on a night out
pumped by melb in prelim

89 was annoying, we should have finished 3rd at end of regular season in 2nd last game Chris Quinn forgot the rule let the kickoff bounce go dead, we restarted with drop out, rule had changed from previous season where you had 22 tap.

They scored on that set of 6, we went from 3rd to tie for 5th we won playoff but were cannon fodder for Canberra on that weekend

Sounds about right.

Does every failed final series have a stupid f**k-up included?

This year, I want an act of brilliance to win us the game!
