Is it possible the Melbourne game knocked the stuffing out of us?
That is, on top of the dropped balls, the dumb penalties, the kicking out on the fulls and the lack of attacking options. Maybe we were flat before we got there?
Something went on during the week, something different to normal... and I would love to know what.. could have been a rev-up, maybe the opposite.. maybe some new structure? You dont ever see 15 blokes play a game distracted and making every error known to man (certainly not in Round 2 where they are fresh).. Mann had a couple of extra late errors, but I think that was a result of how badly the team was going.. hes a long way from the only bloke with his head unscrewed.

I'll ask again West Coast Dummy:

So you're happy for Mary to discard form when selecting players and instead persevere with underperforming new signings in order to one day justify the pathetic recruitment by this club?!!!
Mate I know ur just here to troll, but Id love to know what your plan is after Round 5 when you have exhausted and discarded every 1st Grade, NSW Cup & U20 player in our system.

Other than the result. You can't fault our supporters on the hill to the very last seconds. I know it doesn't count for points but we are one of the loyalist supporters win lose or draw. Sharks on the other hand are absolute grubs

Football is pretty simple - sharks were hungry, fast and tough. They got in our face and we crumbled like little girls.

Our players were soft, lazy and way over confident before this game. As I said before - forwards were giant fluffy marshmallows.

I think the saints will fire up this weekend, we may not win but character this week will define us or it is a long season.

We need to win otherwise putting in will mean nothing.

One of the things that REALLY peeves me over the last few years is how many tries we concede to grubbers in the in-goal. The amount of times 1 opposition player beats 3 or 4 of ours to the ball in goal is a worrying sign of lack of urgency. It would easily average a try a game and it does my head in to hear Mc Gregor dismiss them in press conferences with lines like "yeah they got a few lucky tries off kicks today".
More like opposition coaches know if they put the ball on the ground in our in goal area they know they're a huge chance of jagging a try.

correct.
there has been a huge lack of urgency and intensity in 90% of our matches over the last 3 seasons to be honest.
- we are slow to react in most situations like you mentioned
- our play the balls are slow in most situations (Packer is evident of the difference compared to those that have been in the dragons system for a few seasons).
- our passing is slow and lacks crispness most of the times.
- our set plays unfold in slow motion allowing the defense to read it and be in our faces

most of the time i watch the team its like we are participating in a training drill at 80% intensity rather than an actual match..

it seems even when we win matches this is still an issue, however the opposition have also lost their intensity, which puts us on equal footing.. teams that maintain or lift intensity or urgency during matches often see us wilt under the pressure.. Its definitely a mental thing rather than a physical thing in my opinion. Physically we seem well prepared, mentally we are weak.

and this is where someone like Geoff Toovey could assist...
