Sharks halves - no room for Noddy

The next few weeks may leave Raper with a bit of a dilemma.

Lets just imagine that last night wasn't a fluke and the team has turned the corner. They'll obviously improve more and the combinations will be better. Dykes/Kearney is looking good. Thompson/Kearney is a good one. Dykes/Thompson works well. Dykes/any forward works better than with Noddy.

If we have several more wins without Noddy in the next month what justification will there be to put him back in and put us on the back foot again.

It's pretty simple. People say Noddy can't play behind a pack not going forward. That's a two way street - Noddy can't get them going forward with his monorepetitive style.

This team actually looked a bit like a football team last night. Deep, running hard, more time for decision making leading to better option taking. Bring back Noddy and it'll be back to the same old flat crap that gets us no where.

This is a crossroads for Noddy. If we continue to win under the style seen last night he either has to change or piss off.

BTW Best player on the day in any grade was Tony Caine. Raper need to give this kid a sniff before he decides to move on. He should be a priority "keeper"

Agreed on Caine. And Noddy.

I think many of us were quite forward about our interest in seeing how the team would perform without Kimmorley. Last week wasn't a good look, but we looked more dynamic last night than we have any time we've had Noddy on the park this season.

Yeah but Dykes is playing behind descent forwards and kearney is not that impressive albeit he is a good player

I'm not sold on Kearney. He did a few good things last night, but I think we could have better options. I'd be very interested to see how young T. Caine would handle being thrown into the top grade.

Besides one good grubber to get a repeat set I cant recall Kearney doing aything that contributed to the team in a large way.

In saying that I agree about Noddy, he needs to pizz this flat rubbish off, I am hopeful he can adjust his style because I am sure if he can he can contribute to the team much more than Kearney can.

No, the point is Dykes is turning them into decent forwards with better direction around the park and by giving them quicker cleaner ball.

Dykes generally is a one step catch and pass half. He has the runners deep. Noddy runs halfway to the line with his runner on his shoulder waiting to get smashed. Dykes is giving the forwards "think time" so they can play smarter. They are able to assess their options better due to the extra second or 2 they get.

The difference in short, Noddy still plays Andoball. Dykes plays football.

I was impressed with Kearney in the First half against the Tigers.
But his second half was ordanairy.

He did nothing against the Cowboys.

Dykes had a good game last night but the tries were scored by some individual determination rather than set plays from the halves.

Dykes grubber for himself was very well executed but tries to Bailey and Thompson was through sheer grit and determination.

It really was a forwards night more than anything.

So how anyone could be looking at leaving B.K out for Kearney at this stage, well........must have an agenda.

Kearney Vs Bird for a bench spot now there is a real debate.....

What Kearney might not of done in attack he made up for in defence. Watxch him in the second half in the right defence. He snuffed out quite a few attacking moves of the cows with good hits. Yeah he missed a few as well but they weren't crucial. He made all the tackles that mattered.

Remember, he's only had about 7 NRL games in 3 years due to injury. If given a fair go, 6 weeks or more, he'll keep settling in better as he gets to know the blokes around him.

I have no doubt Kearney has great potential.

More potential than Bird.

And just as versatile but without the bad attitude.

Frenzy is on the ball here with Kimmorley.
He's not the player he was and his form last season and this season should see him go on a holiday and work out where he can take his tired game plan to.
ESL have plenty of $$$ and thats what Kimmorley is all about.

I still can't beleive we traded Preston, who is still playing brilliant footy for an overpaid charleton who was supposed to bring us a premiership. We have no hope of that happening while ever he is around our footy club.

we dont need an australian 1/2 back, nsw 1/2 back and preniership winning captain, we won 1 game. If you really think we will win the comp with dykes and kearny in the halves you are sillier than i thought.

Thats ridiculous... Noddy is a class act and should go straight back into halfback .... He's been playing the 1st few weeks this year behind Dyksey as main play maker in attack anyway or at least equal.. he's great in defence and is a great leader ... Him and Dyksey as either side of the ruck options is potenially up there with some of the best halves combinations in the comp...

Don't worry Troy, they'll find a way to bag Noddy every week, even when he doesn't play.

It gets boring.. they've been doing it since Preston left... even when B.K has a blinder .. I was never a massive fan of Kimmorley but i tell you since joining the Sharks i'll say that the bloke gives 150% every single game and that you have to respect!

He does.

Personally I think they are probably right, he is a little past it but paying him out when he doesn't even play is just low.

Kimmorley WAS the 1/2 back for Australia and nsw in the past and premiership captain. That was 2 years ago and he ain't got that talent any longer. Sure Kearney is not in his class but he shows more passion for the Sharks jersey than Kimmorley ever has, Kimmorley is for Kimmorley and thats all.His manager probably knows that he is no longer the player he was and hopefully is looking around for another club to get mega bucks outa.. I haven't seen Caine play but PL watchers say he has the goods and IMO he should be blooded for 1st grade now before another club decide to.

Kimmorley is a hasbeen and a stillwannabe.

He never had the talent

He won a premiership playing Andoball

He got the Australian jumper because he could play Andoball

He got SOO jumpers because the better players were out. He wasn't allowed to play Andoball in these games and failed dismally.

Those are the facts of the matter

Now all the Noddophiles who want to see this as another beat up are showing their ignorance

Go back to the original thread and READ the thing. Then be honest. If we are still in winning form with the current configuration why should he walk back in? Think a little bit for a change and attempt some analytical thought.

It doesn't hurt :)
