Now the GC are just being bl00dy minded. If they won't release him becasue they are desperate for him to play there fair enough. What they are now saying is in fact they don't really need him and he can play anywhere as long as its not Melbourne!

Come on GC are you desperate for him to play for you or not? If not then let the lad go wherever he feels his interests are best served.

Ok Fruitcake,
Getting a tad irrate are we LK?

so having the club chief executive publicly state that he is 'genuinely interested' in recruiting Lote Tuqiri isn't 'talking up' the chances of recruiting Lote Tuqiri? Good one...
Nope.

Pierce said much more then that - we both know that.
Im sure if he did - you would have posted the link, rather than assume it.

Pierce dangled the recruitment carrot for the media,
You dont think maybe he received a loaded question???

then a day later it was put to rest - this differs to putting the issue to rest at the first opportunity.
This has now crossed to the Rogers part - he stated it was up to Ricky, so really he had no bearing at all. If it could have been printed that day, im sure Rickys comments would have???

Um...you know, the whole 'genuinely interested' speech from Pierce? That implied much more then saying Lote was a 'good player'. Head in the sand still?

So Pierce is so incompetent he cannot dismiss a reporter's questions and is 'sucked into' implying interest in player's that the club never had any real interest in? Ouch...you blokes have much bigger problems then eh.....

True!

Not really.
They want a replacement player for Turner. Fair enough. Trouble is that they are prepared to be resonable with any side other than Melbourne.

Agreed GC has a huge responsibility to save face here and stop playing the jitled bully.

For not agreeing with your opinion?

'Genuinely interested' as opposed too say - Lote would love it here, we think he would fit in well. Our structure suits him, we have money available to table a great deal for him.

That IMO, is talking it up.

Maybe its just that our perception differ LK, rather than one is right, and one is deluded?

So Pierce is so incompetent he cannot dismiss a reporter's questions and is 'sucked into' implying interest in player's that the club never had any real interest in?
So if he lied, or put on a muzzle, or even dodged the question - that makes him competent then?

Your crossing from Lote to Rogers here again.

Lote - he said "genuinely interested', as i responded too above.

Rogers - he said it was Rickys call as to whether they liked the possibility - which was dumped that day, but printed the next.

Agreed, we differ in our perception - I'll leave it there.

I'll admit the Rogers one is a little iffy - Pierce probably played it ok.

'Genuinely interested' certainly stands out to me as 'talking it up' - but I respect your right to differ.

Maybe it's just Ricky Stuart. Since he came onboard these kind of media reports have sprung up sharply - Would it be naive of me to think he just likes his name in the paper?... :)

A few reasons i would think.

New coach at the club.

As well he is the National coach.

And from round 17 last year we copped a flogging in the press - which was justified. Its probably a nice change to have a bit of positive press going into the season.

But for every positive report there has been so far since Ricky arrived, there were 2 reports cutting the former coach in half last year.

If the Storm didn't carry on the way they did, they might have let him play for the Storm. But they did carry on.

David Gallop would make a good butler. Why is he allowing this thing to carry on? He should give Turner and his manager an ultimatum asap.
Bullsh*t. If the GC are happy with the deal, it's none of his, or anyone else's business.

No they're not. They're saying they are happy to come to some commercial arrangement. The same offer was available to Melbourne but they refuse to negotiate.

Gallop is nothing but a hypocrite...Turner to the Sharks is endorsed by this fool and shows that he is actively supporting a club being allowed to player swap without any reference to Storm or the fact that Storm are one of the parties involved in this dispute ??.
The Drizzle have no claim on Turner and the GC have every right to decide what conditions they put on any release for Turner from their club, ala Parra and Lyon

No, it's a matter of principle. If he won't play for them, they should make damn sure he doesn't play for Melbourne. Otherwise, Melbourne and Turner get what they want and the only loser is the GC.

And they are gaining what. All sides look like losers to me. The Tittans the most.
