Bad PR? So this whole debacle hasn't been bad PR already? Gallop should end it now. Tell the 'kid' to honour his contract or else. I'm pretty sure people would have second thoughts about trying a similar rort in furture. The nrl needs stong leadership and I have grave doubts about Gallop. Just look at the Gordon Tallis affair.

it will be a bad PR move for the NRL Administrators if they take the stand that you take. I'm also not a big fan of Gallop, but his hands are tied on this one and can't do anymore than what he's done.

How are his hands tied? IMO this whole fiasco has been a huge PR stuff up. People are looking at this matter and scratching their heads wondering why Gallop has failed to take affirmative action. These players, managers and club officials need to be shown contracts whether verbal or written are binding and anyone who attempts similar rorts willl be sharfted out of the game. Show some balls Gallop.

you might be..plenty others see it as an issue between 1 player and 2 clubs.

As I said there is only so much Gallop can do.

When player plays up at a pub or is late for training the club fines him or takes other appropriate actions without the assistance of the NRL unless criminal charges are involved, why should this be any different?

Now the GC are just being bl00dy minded. If they won't release him becasue they are desperate for him to play there fair enough. What they are now saying is in fact they don't really need him and he can play anywhere as long as its not Melbourne!

Come on GC are you desperate for him to play for you or not? If not then let the lad go wherever he feels his interests are best served.

You what? The Sharks have offered compensation to the Titans for Turner. The Titans would have been more than happy to let Turner play for Melbourne, provided the Storm gave them compensation. The Storm have refused this.

If Melbourne came to the party and offered compensation to the Titans for Turner, this would have been over months ago.

Because the nrl looks impotent and a laughing stock. Someone needs to remind players, managers and club officials that a contract is a contract unless all parties concerned agree to it's termination. Gallop should put everyone on notice that changing your mind is not an option. Otherwise its a case of the lunatics running the aslyum.

Gallop and the nrl often comment on players who get into trouble and take great interest in anyone bringing the game into disrepute (unless you are Gordon Tallis).

Turner has offered the Titans compensation, why should the Titans get compensation twice? No-one else gets compensation twice, try claiming something on home insurance AND on the product's warranty, you don't get both. If you claim workcover you can't get the dole.

Simple fact is Turner wants to stay in Melbourne, Storm recruited for 2007 without him in their plans and can go without him if it comes down to it.

Don't tell me it's all about the principle.... the Titans are trying to get something for nothing after botching up the contract process by not getting the 'contract' lodged with the NRL in the allotted timeframe.
If the contract isn't submitted to the NRL in the required time then the contract should be made null and void, regardless of it being written or verbal.

I agree with morals of this turner situation, but in today's legal climate you would think that if player A agrees to play with a club then the onus should be on the club and manager to get player A to sign a contract.
Basically Iam in the building trade and i quote a job for Mr Bloggs and he agrees with the price. But when i go to get him to sign a contract i am told he has got another builder ,
Does that give me a legal right???
I have grown up Morally Your word is your bond and some thing i would not break, but surely there must be blame on both sides here.
