For those that didn't know and who don't get the Shark Attack magazine it seems Shaun Wessell's late improvement in form was enough for him to gain retention with the Sharks.

The magazine lists a potential Sharks lineup thus

FULLBACK - David Peachey backups David Simmons, Nathan Merritt

WINGERS - Matt Rieck, Nathan Merritt backups Dimitri Pelo, Jason Kent, Steven Ross, David Simmons

CENTRES - Nigel Vagana, Paul Franze backups Phil Bailey, Andrew Emelio, Jason Kent, David Simmons, Bronx Goodwin

FIVE EIGHTH - Greg Bird backups Matt Hilder, Russell Aitken, Michael Sullivan, Andrew Dallalana

HALFBACK - Brett Kimmorley backups Russell Aitken, Andrew Dallalana, Michael Sullivan

LOCK - Matt Hilder backups Greg Bird, Danial Dumas, Cameron Ciraldo, Dean Bosnich

SECOND ROWERS - Danny Nutley, Phil Bailey backups Matt Bickerstaff, Sam Isemonger, Paul Gallen, Keith Galloway, Michael Russo, Reece Williams, Daniel Dumas

FRONT ROWERS - Chris Beattie, Jason Stevens backups Andrew Lomu, Danny Nutley, Dale Newton, Roy Friend, Nathan Vagg, Michael Russo, Shaun Wessell, Michael Greenfield, Jon Green, Jason Williams

HOOKER - Dean Bosnich backups Pat Gibson, Kevin Kingston, Michael Sullivan

COACH - Chris Anderson backup Stuart Raper.

COACH - Chris Anderson backup Stuart Raper.

Here's what I can add. Should Coach Anderson pull up sore and be ruled out for the season after the Kangaroo Tour, you can almost take it as certain that the hooking lineup will get an additional name thrown into that mix - either as starter or backup... ;-)

Good stuff about wessel. He was starting to look like a battle tank. He still needs plenty of work though.

And meh@ the old fart bench player that has somehow evolved into a god.

GO DEANO!!!!! bosnich that is ;-)

I offered no editorial comment on the virtues of the hooker that might be getting picked up. I'm merely commenting that we're a good chance of signing this player should Anderson not be coach -- keeping the masses informed... ;-)

Apparently, said player is willing to play for a pittance on a one year deal and is seeking little more than a decent send-off. If we can pick up quality players on the cheap, then it can only be of a benefit to us, even if it only boosts our depth.

Lose Chris Anderson the current Australian coach and gain Dean Triester a hooker who can't currently get a start in an Australian first grade side... No offence to Dean, but that sounds like the worst trade in Rugby League history.

Bit too clever for me there, Millersnose. Do you mean that while what I wrote sounds bad on paper, it might not be in reality?

Who can honestly say he's the best coach on form any way
Stuart, Lang, Hagan, Bennett and a host of others could do that job

I don't doubt that's true. But he's got more runs on the board than any of those guys... even Bennett. 3 clubs in 2 countries to the title. It's not a bad record.

And they spat on him in England he was so unpopular - right before he won the comp. They stopped spitting then.

It really makes you wonder why he keeps coaching with all the crap that he has to put up with. He must really love the game and there's no doubting the guy's emotional investment in his coaching. That's part of the reason why I think we need him in 2004. The Board and a lot of the supporters have really stuck it to him in 2003 and I have a feeling that he is going to stick it right back to the knockers next season.

I'm looking forward to it and I just hope that he gets the chance to do so.

Anderson must get one last chance in 2004. I've said it before and will continue to support that statement. Raper isn't ready until 2005 earliest.

If Opes 'sticks it back to the knockers' with on field results, then I'll be a happy chappy.

If there is more turmoil, controversy, and dramas, then I'd prefer if that bravado was stuck somewhere else.
