I know alot of people hate Sheens but i like him he has done alot more good than bad for the club ...

On what i have heard that he will get a new contract before the season starts ..

Please tell me what you think of this and if he does get all the players he is after the team should finish top six if no major injurys .....

And if we do lose some players we have so much talent to cover its amazing when you think of what we have to cover young great kids wih a few NRL games under there belt and the ones yet to be tested

And one other thing people have named there best line up for next year on this froum but can any one please name there first team and there second team

SHeens needs to be judged on his record and not what he says. If he gets any new contract before the season begins it just shows how amateurish and juvenile the WT club is. Unless the team falls in a heap at the start of the season, 1/2 way through the season is the time to make judgement on what to do. If Teflon wants to steamroll WT board into making a new offer before the season even starts, after our dismal record since 2005, then the WT board should just say- "no, if you want to have a new contract for 2011 now you can go and get one elsewhere- we wait until mid season." Sheens record does not deserve any other action.

WT actually have options available now with Folkes in the wing and the possibiliity to Nathan Brown being interested in coming back to NRL from ESL- we should not close off options early. One thing for sure Simmons is not an option.

For me, if around round 20, we are top of the ladder...he should be retained, and if by round 20 we are at the bottom, he's given the flick.

Spot on.

As for hating Sheens - I don't think so. A lot of fans are frustrated with his management of the team, but there's no doubt he knows a thing or two about football... He has done a lot of good for the club, but he's also failed to live up to our expectations and that means he is on a precipice of sorts... The more he hangs around with the same old tired routine, the more he stands to undo all the good he has brought to the club.

But... Now that we're seeing a bit of sensible recruitment, and having finished off the season with a little more pride than we usually do, I think it's harsh to say Sheens should not at least see out his contract. But if it is going to be renewed, it should be done so on the back of results. There's no room for sentimentality in a decision like this, but the Tigers usually go with the heart and not the head so we'll just have to see...

There's no doubt he has done a lot of good for the club but there's really no excuse for missing the finals 4 years in a row. Especially straight after winning a premiership.

No other club would cop that.

Sheens has 3 comps so he must do some thing right.
Of the other coaches mentioned browney is one i would love to have at the sharks after ricky has had enough.I do not know about folkes as to me we had anderson and we were terrible, just flat boring attack.
Folkes might go good but imo i would tread real care full guys.Simmons is not the answer at all

No one here in this forum doubts Sheens is a good coach but the question should be 'has he gone stale at WT?'. Many think he has, others not. As others have said, Sheens has done great things for the club, he is a respected and valuable contributor to the game but there is always a time for people to move on, change and go to fresh fields- for the good of both sides. Many feel it is time for Sheens to move on. Sheens has also done some bad things- the biggest one in my mind was his standoff with the then CEO Longmuir.

Plenty of time to list the positives and negatives Sheens has contributed to WT- be biggest positive no doubt is 2005 premiership but lets wait for his farewell roast.

For a team that has only been around for ten years, he has certainly helped to define us. For good, or for bad. Question is, where can he take us from here?

I am sheens biggest critic but i would agree he does know how to coach a footy side.

I wouldnt swap the style of footy we play with any other teams style. i love watching the tigers, most fans of nrl love watching the tigers and our attack does set the benchmark. We lose several games a season because of the pressue we put on ourselves but most are because of a lack of effort by 1-2 players this week, a different 1-2 the next, ocassionally the entire team digs in and we look awesome, ocassionally its the other way round.

His down fall is his loyalty. i believe he has gone a little soft in his old age, tough guy on tv & behind the mic but behind the scenes he a softy. He would play the entire team out of position so that one of his favourites isnt dropped.

When's the last time a player was dropped for a lack of effort. Look at the eels, Eric growth playing reserves, Finch given the flick, Inu dropped, Mateo fit and on the side lines for weeks. they were forced to earn a place back in the side, the players around them were forced to keep their place in the side and they made the final. Why would Payten, Gibbs and the rest of our previous joke forward pack bust their balls if they know their place is garanteed.

I hope this so called cleanout is his first step into genuine taps on the sholders, not when a contract is expired but when that player is no longer an asset.

As head coach he needs to make the tough calls, no diffrent to a manager of a business (exactly what each NRL team is) sacking an employee for not delivering.

I don't think Sheens is a good coach anymore.

He was a great coach, but his ideas are stale and antiquated.

I thank him for bringing the club a premiership, i thank him for fixing the clubs image.

But lets be serious, he accomplished that at the end of 2005.

Since then he's gone backwards.

It's time for him to move on.

Just because he's signed some props of a great standard for once, isn't enough to persuade me he deserves a contract extension.

Why wait 4 seasons after winning a title to bolster the side?

Why wait 4 years to make a decision on the underperforming players in the squad?

Thats 4 years we lost, that we don't get back, that good coach would have taken advantage of, using the success to draw high profile players to the club to keep the team successful.

Tim didn't do that.

His stubbornness cost us 4 seasons.

I don't think that sort of behaviour should be rewarded.

It was not just poor recruitment that has me frustrated, although this is a big factor, it is Sheens inability to admit he has made a mistake and persisting with a failure far too long, ie playing 2nd rowers as props, Morris at halfback, Morris at five eighth, Marshall at halfback, Moltzen at fullback, Gallant in reserve grade - on and on - these are all factors Sheens had control over. Matthew Head was a better option for half imo then we had at that time, but not according to Tim.

Anyway - time will tell what happens.
