Riddell's timely touch of class

One night this week TFF was out at the Sydney Showground for a function which involved a lot of business people kicking goals between the uprights - with every successful goal adding $50 to a cheque handed at the end of the night to the Children's Cancer Institute. To facilitate the whole thing and give pointers, the organisers hired the St George Illawarra goalkicker, Mark Riddell, in return for a good whack of dosh-ish. (Non-league nutters might recognise Riddell as the guy who always raises his arm in a kind of salute just before he runs in to kick.) Anyways, near the end of the night, TFF noticed Riddell very quietly take the Children's Cancer Institute bloke aside to have a few words before taking his leave. What was that about? Riddell, as quietly as it could be done, had handed his fee for the night to the charity. The mark of a man is what he does when he thinks no one knows. Riddell is a class act and he does his team, and his code, proud.
