Should Arg join the 3N's and S14 ?

What does everyone think of the Argies joining SANZAR now? Their performance in this cup has made it all but inevitable for me now. The preisdent of the IRB was up on his soapbox earlier today saying that they should be admitted asap.

I think their performance in this cup has made it all but inevitable. I stand by my original statement, 3 teams in the Super 14 should be a minimum for mine, and I think off their performance in the cup, they could be a serious powerhouse soon.

I think we should have 1 Argentinan team and one combined Pacific Islander (Samoa, Tonga, Fiji etc) team

Argies definitly deserver to be part of the 3N's, even if it means that they cannot get hold of their NH club players. PI teams are already in a Pacific 6N comp with AUS and AB B sides which by the looks of the last RWC is having a positive effect.

If they drop 2 sides from the S14 say Otago and the Reds then you would have room for a team from Argentina and 1 from the PI nations.

I read that since a number of their players play in the european comps it would be hard for them to be released by these clubs to play in any expanded southern hemisphere comp.

Georgian players were all told by their European clubs that if they played in the world cup in 2003 they would be sacked by their clubs - only some played in RWC 2003 for that reason.

Georgia has overcome that problem by getting most of their national side playing in the lower echelons of French rugby, which ajusts its seasons for World Cups.

The IRB really needs to take a page from FIFA's book, players MUST be released from their club sides for World Cups if selected.

Bayrep whilst that wouldn't really effect Rugby in Otago, it'd effectively kill Rugby in Queensland. And giving the Argies only one team...It'd essentially be the national team if you did that?

They need two as a minimum. Three would be better. I think it'll probably happen as soon as the TV deal allows for expansion too.

They are currently establishing I believe a domestic comp with 6 argentinian teams , 1 from uraguy (national team ) and 1 other country, if you added US and Canada with 2 teams each mayby this could be played while the S14 is on and the opacific Island nations on thier own well thier players already paly in europe mostly anyway during the S14 or in NZ, AUs so could play thier still during s14 might be a quicker st option
