They should have sacked him this morning, but can see why they haven't (coz of the Kyle situation). I think a loss to the Cowboys will be the final nail in the coffin

I dont think it's whether we will sack him, as results just aren't there, it's whether we can afford to sack him is the greater question.

Depending on the clauses in his contract, to which we aren't privy to, we may have to pay him out in full. That's almost 3yrs of salary, to which I would say would be on the high end.

If that were the case, then an incoming HC would have to accept basically minimum wage for almost 3yrs. And yes, the football department has a salary cap also.

Hence, the only way out for the Dragons if we part ways with Flanno would be simply to appoint the SAC, whose salary is already part of the current football department cap.

Dreaming of an outside appointment, I just can't see it happening given the above. The other internal options would be WT, who has plenty of respect amongst the players, but he's not even one of the NRL assistants. The other would be Ennis, which doesn't thrill me, however, he was mentioned as a favorite for the Manly interim.

Such a tangled web we have woven for ourselves.

That's the question...who better would be available to replace him?? Untested rookies?? The only experienced coach would be Brad Arthur, Demetriou, Barrett..not convinced on any of them.

Demitriou may be a good fit as he has been at the Saints and did well with the juniors. He won Saints their first comp with the juniors from memory. Then Mary got threatened and Demitriou was turfed out which he ended up at the Broncos under Wayne and remained with him for a while. He has then gained some experience in the NRL and I think is due for another crack. Souths was not a good fit with Lattrell and Walker running the show back then. I think this Saints squad will actually be a great fit for him. And he is not afraid to bring in juniors. He did choose Illias over Reynolds which at the time was a ballsy move and ended up not going his way but Reyno was 30+ and he did have salary cap issues to work with as Souths were stacked and one star had to be let go and he chose the older bloke.

They should sack the Hierarchy who gave him the 3 year extension before the season started ........ Did the same with Mary , bad decisions one after the other that's why they are in the position their in ........ Say what we want , but there has been no improvement , going backwards ........ That's how I feel , but others can still find good points ( which I can't ) Since 2010 the team now has hit rock bottom .........

So, let's say Flano survives (in the short term), the big question for me is:

If we are putting a few wins together (hypothetical) with either LKT or Reed in the halves, does he parachute Kyle straight back into first grade and in particular back into the 6?

If so, then this would signal to me that he's not focused on the team but focused on securing Kyle's future prospects. "Father first".

Given the extent of Kyle's concussion, you would expect he'd be out for a minimum of 3 - 4 weeks.

Remember he's as tough as they come, he will only miss 1-2 weeks, not long enough for us to show promising changes.

My guess if:
Lose more than we win he will go back to 6
win lose the same he will go back to 6
win most games when Kyle is out (good luck) maybe he moves Kyle to different position, he will be forced to, he won't drop him.

Maybe the reason Saints got Ennis in is because if they do sack Flanno he would slot in with not much impact to their salary cap budget.
Ennis being brought in as a first grade assistant, with no coaching experience, was just another example of plain and simple nepotism by Flanagan.

Ennis can't even commit to the assistant coach gig full time, he was at the Eels v Penrith game on Saturday doing sideline interviews with the coaches and we presumably would've been at the Gold Coast getting ready for our game 24 hours later.

Having a nepotistic BOD is one thing, then having a coach who is as bad, if not worse when it comes to Nepotism, creates a massive stink around the whole club. We need a coach who isn't in the business of doing favours for their friends and family as a minimum!

It's not the coach we have been saying it for years . The Dragons Board needs to pull out the big major sponsors and attract young marquee players stop signing old timers .
No rejects signings clubs dont won't its been a major issue with the previous coaches receiving 2nd hand rejects. And let go of players that aren't performing every club that are consistently in the top 4 move players on to superleague.

The media are talking up Ennis as a possibility for Manly's next head coach. He must be ok. It may force Saints to panic and sack Flanno to appoint him. What has Ennis done to get so much praise? Funny how Dean Young and Hornby not mentioned as candidates to take the Manly job. If and when Saints sack Flanno they will be all over the press to be ideal to take over Saints but not for Manly because they know they are not good enough to go to one of the glamour clubs but good enough for the lower clubs like Saints.
