Should Lyon be allowed to go to Manly?

Under no circumstances should Parramatta release Jamie Lyon. He is coming across as a spoilt brat who spat the dummy when things didn't go his way. This scenario could set a precedent and clubs like the Roosters would have a field day trying to entice youngsters to break contracts to sign with a more powerful club.

Lyon should either return to the Eels or sit out the remainder of his contract unless Manly compensate the Eels for Lyon and it counts towards their cap from the day he leaves Parra.

I wouldn't mind that. If Privatisation goes through we could count 600,000 (I'd say well over the compensation mark for the remaining years  ) to this years cap and not have to worry about it for the remainder of the years.

He shouldn't be released. He has a contract with Parramatta and he should either honour or not play at all

It's a different situation if a club wants to get rid of a player, they do not simply have the right to sack him just like that. He would either receive a payout, which he has the right to negotiate, or decides to take up an offer from another club. If they were simply told you "we don't want you, we're tearing up your contract" then legal action by the player would be their right.

Apparently he will be granted a release on the provisio that he repays the money paid to him, just hope he knows that he has lost alot of credibility over his handling of this issue if in fact the fallout is true. On Jamie Lyons profile in the Eels website the three major influences on his career are stated as Brian Smith, Noel Cleal and John Harvey, now we all are well aware of his relationship with Crusher but if he had a problem with Smith do you think he would have had him in that answer as the majority of other players in there don't so I doubt whether he was crawling. The reason behind him leaving had alot to do with his gf and her mother aswell but unless we hear it directly from his mouth it is too difficult to really know what the true story is.

a contracts a contact-alot of us them have withbanks-we cant just pull the pin when we like---Its up to parra to make the call not manly or lyons. They were the ones who through the mega bucks at him and delevoped him.Okay things are on a downer at cumberland-but the boy from the bush signed a contract for a sh.t load of money and he wants out--do your time at parra--put in the yards--and the eagles will pay even more for you-because they dont delevope many of their own.
but jamie-parra kept their side of the bargin--you keep yours

Apparently RLW today has an interview/ article about him asking about this so-called fallout with Brian Smith. Should be an interesting read.

Parra are in a no-win situation here. If Parra ask him to sign something along the lines of not being able to play for another NRL club until his current contract with them runs out. Lyon will say no and Parra will have what ever his contract is worth under their salary cap for the next 2 and a half years.

If they do release him, they lose an outstanding player to another club(most likely). They will however, have room to move under the salary cap again.

Supposedly in the RLW article he and his manager say there was no problem with Smith...

Jamie shouldnt be released in anyway shape or form. Its time for a bit of loyalty in league. Blacklock returned to the dragons after his stint in union, and lyon should return to parra
