Should SGI Sign Jai Arrow As The Replacement for JDB

Rothfield in the paper today claimed that Saints will not be able to sign any high profile players, even with Widdop going as we will have cap trouble. Now I know he is a complete idiot but where does that come from? Mind you we will be paying for Debelin to sit on the sideline again next year.

Besides the coach, there's plenty we can get rid of including Millward for getting us in the cap mess with such incompetence.

Arrow is a quality player. I read that we have made enquiries about him. He would be an ideal replacement for JDB, there is a lot of competition for his signature and I don't think it would be worthwhile getting into a bidding war. His is good, but not that good. He has a very high workrate, but doesn't offer enough in attack to warrant 800K a season.

Aitken is a bigger liability than Dufty...

Jai arrow is SOO player so he wont replace anyone at SOO..he will be playing

De Belin is an SOO player and a lock at SGI. Arrow is an SOO lock and so we need to replace players on a like for like or better policy if we want to be competitive. Arrow makes sense to me as the ideal replacement for De Belin and RCG makes sense to me as the ideal replacement for Graham.

Millward only got that job because is father is an Illawarra old boy heavy. Craig young got the assistant coach job because his father is an Illawarra old boy and a board member of SGI and son on …………

Qualifications and experience should be the go and most of all an open competitive recruitment process.

The rumour mill is suggesting that Gagai is genuinely unhappy at Souths playing on the wing, Souths have two handy centres in Roberts and Burns, and Bennett doesn't want to pay a winger $700k. I'd get rid of Aitken and go after Gagai.

Many on Souths forum are critical of Gagai's defence at centre. Bennett also doesn't see Gagai as a centre either. There were reports that Gagai wanted a release from Souths this year to take up a big money deal from the Gold Coast, but Souths wouldn't release him. Bennett said he can wait until the end of the season to leave. I don't think he would be worth getting into a bidding war and we should be looking at a better centre for less money.

How did the CEO get the job?

Johnston was heading a panel to recruit an outside CEO and as he was Chairman of the Board at the time, and as a condition of WIN's share purchase they wanted Gordon as Chairman and Johnston as CEO. So the recruitment exercise was cancelled mid way though and Johnston was appointed.

Negotiations for the share buy out by WIN were protracted I believe because of a multitude of conditions sought by both all sides. The bottom line is that an old boy was appointed CEO and he recommended the early extension approval of Mary.
