Where are you going to get your players from? And correct me if I'm wrong, over the past 20 years Wollongong Showground has a better winning % ground than Kogarah.

Also, give it another 10 years or so,maybe even less, the way the population of the Illawarra is growing, a Steelers return is not out of the question.
Your post jogs my memory for a recent one I posed to piss off the anti-Illawarra crew in the dragons forum..

I'm off to dig it out..

Back soon...

Any remember the LU Dragons fan from a few years back that went off tap, because the team dared not wear the "blood and bandages" strip for one of their games.

I reckon it was the OP.
Wasn't it FIRE? He was a f**ken flog

Ahhh.. here it is:

It is the Illawarra component that is watering down Jubilee Oval with a concerted effort to play all home games at the Gong.

Look at all the figures and stats, it's already happening.

Actually I took a look at the stats, and from an overall success point of view, we should be shifting all games to the JV’s spiritual home in Wollongong..

After all, not only have we played there every season, the majority of all our wins as a home team have occurred there:

We’ve won more home games at WIN than we have at ANZ, SFS, SCG and GWS combined.

And I know what you’re saying.. “but muzby, if we’d played the same number of games at kogarah we’d have far more wins than WIN”

False.

The overall win % is exactly the same at WIN as it is at kogarah:

So I know now you’re thinking “well muzby you dunce we should just shift more of the Sydney other ground home games to kogarah and we’d have a better chance of winning”

False.

You need to score points to win. Since the start of the JV, the dragons have been held scoreless as the home team only 5 times. Never in Wollongong. Guess where the majority is:

But I know now you’re probably thinking “muzby you peanut, we are a better attacking team at kogarah”

False.

Our biggest ever score, and our biggest ever winning margin as a home team happened.. Guess where..

Wollongong.

Now, I know you’re probably thinking “muzby you infuriating muppet, you’ve just pulled these stats out of your arse”

False.

All from rugby league project, current to last weekend’s results. Feel free to check.

So.. If we look at the case for shifting all home games to WIN stadium:
- Most home games played
- Most wins
- Best winning percentage
- Never held scoreless
- Highest ever score
- Best winning margin

@Old Kogarah Boy 1 your idea to shift all games to WIN is a brilliant idea to help us win more games and I’ll make sure when it happens that you get the appropriate credit..

I’m excited!!

Does anyone think the NRL would allow St George to split back to a Sydney only club? Or split in 2 making Illawarra the 17th club? Other areas have been trying to be the 17th team for 10+years and the NRL has been fighting club self interest to make it happen. Yet people think making the 17th team another NSW club that is half of an already existing team is a good idea.

Some "Bring back the Bears" levels of glory days delusion if anyone thinks the NRL would be on board.

Nope.. If they split it, my money would be on them keeping the team on the south coast to help avoid overloading sydney with teams..

The 1st team to have the Dragons held to a nil score at Kogarah was Penrith on a very wet day.

But seriously, I've been to the Wollongong Showground, especially during their premiership run, and it was a superfortress.

In comparison, they should have all their (tougher) home matches played there with the exceptions of the ANZAC Day and Charity games.

If they must play at least 3 games at Kogarah, the Sharkies, Dogs and Easts could be the go, or opt for playing easier games at Kogarah.

Agreed that if they split I'd say you'd more likely end up with a full time South Coast team in the NRL and St George in NSW Cup. If the license is for St George Illawarra I don't imagine St George could just take all games back to Sydney without the NRL agreeing to it.
