Should trials count as suspensions?

I dont think so. Trials mean nothing.

I reckon the first round etc should be the only games that count when a player carries over his suspension from the previous year.

Definately not.

No teams take the trials seriously anyway, (with the exception of week 4 of the preseason).
A preseason NFL match is more a chance for rookies and new signings to get a chance to show their stuff and possibly move up the depth chart.

i agree. although there arnt as many games in a season than in other football seasons, they really only take the main seaon seriously. if they do something bad enough to get suspended, let them sit out the games that matter. it will get the message across not to do it again.
