Just on Roberts, every time I see him play he looks gassed to me . He makes a run or chases someone and is grasping for air . Its like he smokes a packet a day ...... Has speed to burn but in saying that does not do enough in a game . Rather bring Lomax along ........

We've got a bit of speed coming into the team now with Field and Dufty. I dare say they are fitter than Roberts and have more heart and grit. Plus, Roosters might need someone to back up Ikuvalu, Tupou, Morris and Hall and have probably already done a deal.

For starters I doubt we will sign Roberts. I think he will end up at Souths.

As for should we be in the market for him. I have mixed thoughts on the matter. He certainly is a strike weapon. His speed can lead to tries from anywhere on the field. He would add some much needed speed to our backline. He is probably better than Lomax and Lafai. He is also much better than either of our wingers, but I doubt he wants to come and play wing for us. Wing is the position I would play Roberts right now, instead of Ravalawa. I would also drop Lafai for Roberts if I had to make a choice. The downsides are, I think Mary would certainly drop Lomax for Roberts in a heart beat. His game is a bit one dimensional. He does lack a passing game and doesn't set his wingers up, as well as he could. He has also be troubled by injuries this year. He wouldn't come cheap either.

I would probably sign him if I could.

A Roberts / Lomax centre combination would be a very big upgrade to the Aitken / Lafai combination we have had over the last 5 years. I hope that this season we will welcome Saab to left wing of first grade and recruit a first grade righ wing / Fullback prior to Jun 30.

The back 5 we currently have is an absolute disgrace. In my opinion all but Lomax and Dufty are only suitable for reserve grade and really should not be on our books.

I'd also say that if Dufty does not improve his defence, he may find that Field will take the fullback spot off him. It is great to have speed and Dufty and Field have it in spades however, defence is also a prime criteria for a fullback in first grade.

If Millward was a competent operator, he would’ve thrown a bus load of money at Blake Ferguson. Instead SGI gets a couple of reserve (or park) standard wingers.
