Take always from today’s game and other things
  1. Sharks proved beyond doubt that with good systems and coaching talented 18 year olds can make it in 1st grade and succeed
  2. Hunt proved he is prone to making game changing absolute changers and is not suited to our style (????) of football nor worth the $$$ we paid. Too much shit and not enough paper.
  3. When confronted with having to make a change to accomodate Lafai’s injury we completely ignored that side in attack. We then suffered further injuries restricting our team to 14 players and in attack we used 11. Pereira and Host were totally under-utilised with ball in hand and caused even more fatigue to others.
  4. Graham gets far too much ball in attacking situations. Just like Tollman at the Dogs they hog the ball and run head down bum up and get dominated.
  5. Lomax and Pearson were not perfect but far more assured than Rava & Dufty and should be persevered with.
  6. Lomax played up in the line to bolster our beleaguered attack which was a good thing but it did cause some issues with his positioning but Pereira not smart enough to help cover like good wingers do. I hope Lomax persists and improves his skills and fitness.
  7. Our forwards are impotent for far too long in games. Combination of game plan and fatigue but we really lack punch.
  8. Aitken is one of the dumbest footballers ever to lace on a boot. No footy sense what so ever and no amount of time in 1st grade will fix that.
  9. Pearson, Pereira, Ravalawa & Latimore signings combined with Robson’s leaving show how inept we are in recruitment.
  10. We are back to 2017 form and many players going backwards at a rate of knots.
  11. We have the slowest team in the comp and will never be any good until we have speed and lots if it because we are impotent in the opposition 20

C'mon guys McGregor has this covered, he said so in the presser.

Prepare for the return of "LATS', he will save the day.

You would say that according to McGregor Lats will come straight in for Graham (who was in a moonboot after todays game).
A greater problem is replacing Lafai, who would be very doubtful given he was on crutches after todays game. Our only other centre on our list is Maranta (spare me days!!!). So for me I'd play Norman as the centre.
Congrats on watching the presser, you’re better than me. You could have saved yourself the trouble though & watched one from 2016.

Hi All,

To quote a famous poster here on the forum.

Relax no one is coming, no with ability and speed wants to come, we are not going to improve. We made our big signing Blake Lawrie the other day. He is going to trudge around trying hard for another 2 or 3 years.

When you realise these truths you can relax and get on with life.

We are now at round 11....in my opinion we have played 1 decent match over 80 minutes this season and that was against the bulldogs who are wooden spoon contenders. Even at the beginning of the season with our full complement of players except JDB, we played poorly and in fact lost our first 2 games.

Many want to use the JDB situation and Widdop's injury as contributing factors for our poor season and I must agree. But consider that JDB is likely to be missing for a good part of next season and Widdop will be gone...so does that mean next season is also a right off already, apart from the obvious coaching issues. It defies any logic that club seeking success would appoint 2 successive rookie coaches for over 8 seasons without any success and then then turn around and extend McGregor again for another 2.

In my opinion JDB should be sacked for bringing the game into disrepute....not for the alleged criminal offence but for putting himself in that situation and contributing to the clubs demise....I would think his salary cap would then be available.

It is obvious the coach has lost any confidence in himself and any ability he might have had....his press conferences display a very tense and nervous demeanor, like a deer in the headlights...he should be sacked but won't be as this would be an admission of incompetence from the board...we are stuck for 2 more seasons...the immediate future of our club is bleak and our narrow window of opportunity for getting anywhere close to a premiership, as many on the forum were hoping with the pack of forwards we had, has disappeared whilst we go into another rebuilding phase for the next 2-3 seasons.

An absolute mess....but all self inflicted

Coach doesn’t have the players. I just can’t see it at all.

I have no doubt the whole JDB situation has been a big distraction and let’s face it, JDB has been a fantastic player and rock solid in the middle. You just cannot replace that overnight.

Injuries to players like Widdop and then Norman hurt the side more than say a forward going down (James Graham for example).

All that said, the Coach just isn’t getting the best out of those that take the field and that’s his job. So, he is a failure and I don’t like him... lol

I’m sick of the lack of respect for the ball. We turn it over easy & rarely play for repeat sets.
Footy is a simple game built defence, possession & pressure. We’re lacking in all 3 at the moment. For the life of me, what do these blokes do at training?
Why can’t one of the 15 assistant coaches point out it would be a good thing to play for repeat sets. Is it that hard?
I don’t think anyone is game enough to say anything just in case they upset mcgregor ceaser.....and get banished from the organization

Missing Widdop, de Belin, Norman from our cap. Then Graham for the second half, Lafai and Frizell for most of the game.

Have been missing K Sims, Frizell at stages throughout the year.

Then you have Dufty and Ravalawa forcing selection changes through poor form.

Are you absolute incels aware of the impact that has on salary cap and depth of a squad?

But email away to someone's spam inbox. That'll fix it.

5 losses. They couldn't get it right in one of the last 5 games, and have one convincing win for the season. Your excuses are pathetic Maryisms.

I know you follow through thick or thin .
But yes I am sick off this shit we dish up especially atm
After a while it gets very tough to watch this shit.
It's like watching Carlton in the afl.
Mary another two years .
Every year look forward to the season, but I am already looking forward to the off season, After only half a season.
Now the origin period..,lose more players.
DRAGONS Footy sux big time .
Only Saints can do this.

Are you a Carlton Blues fan? Cause if you are I seriously know how much pain you are in right now.

At the bare minimum, we have to win 8 of our last 13 games to make the top 8 and that may not even be enough. The way we are going I can't see us making the top 8.

I do think the return of Norman will make a huge difference to the team and to Ben Hunt's game.

If we do miss the top 8, the the only positive may be that we replace Mary. We have to replace Mary if we miss the top 8 don't we???????

There is clearly something horribly wrong within the club. The roster for this year, pre-season included five state of origin players (Frizell, Hunt, Vaughan, JDB, T.Sims), two England internationals (Widdop, Graham), solid, experienced NRL players (Norman, K.Sims, McInnes) and a stack of promising young players (Lawrie, Host, Leilua, Robson, Dufty) yet here we are, 4-7 and more chance of a wooden spoon than the top 8.

If we were anything close to a professional club heads would roll over such a disgraceful situation, but let's face it, nothing is going to change. For those that can remember, it's the late 80s all over again. Get used to it.

I feel sorry for Latimore. He gets battered from pillar to post by many on this forum but he plays to his ability, often above it. He is not to blame for poor retention, poor selection and poor coaching. All he does is give a 100% most weeks. Pity key people in our club off the field don’t have his commitment........I wonder if Latts can coach?

Its rubbish, way too many errors but to be fair take the equivalent of widdop, norman, de belin, Graham and frizzell out of any side along with a few others and they're going to have a tough time

Didn't The Sharks have up to 7 out the last few weeks and still manage to win....No more excuses...the buck stops with all the coaching staff.

Yes exactly-Cronulla even can do it.Every week its just a different excuse-but thats all-just an excuse. Why oh why was Aitken back today-absolutely appaling and should be sent packing. Reggies or nothing for the rest of this year. I couldnt believe how bad hes been this year but today took the cake. Why did Mc Gregor even think of using him-defies belief!!!! However the total lack of respect for the ball today was just a joke. Our team seems to think-it doesnt matter-we"ll just score later and catch up-except were not. This attitude comes from the coach and nowhere else. As a very long time Dragons supporter im getting very sick of it-2010 was a long time ago and ever since weve settled for medioricty. The Saints were never mediocre!!

Yes our old boy management is doing a great job. Johnston, Millward and Mary are driving our once great club into the ground.

I agree with you 90%. But give Blake a break. He is a kid trying his guts out. As I said last week, 2 years time he could be anything.
To the guy who told you for the last 12 months that no one is coming here. I would like no where he gets this information from.:grin::grin:

You'd think so but there seems to be no appetite to make changes by the Board.
If McGregor can survive 2016 and 2017, anything is possible.
