Not as a coach, as a hooker to replace Rein. He would have :-

1. More guts
2. More skill
3. More vision
4. Proven winning characteristic
5. Not afraid to mix it amongst the forwards

I can only assume from your comment that you never saw Billy Smith play

I'd say no one comes close to Billy Smith when it comes to pound for pound toughness.

But then again, Billy Smith is my all time favourite player; closely followed by Changa Langlands, Reg Gasiner and Johnny Raper.

Smithy and Langlands were my favourites Possum, I saw very little of Gasnier and Raper.

Smithy was such a ferocious defender with a superb tackling technique.

I remember a semi final against Manly where the English International Phil Lowe had breached the first line of defence. A huge second rower, 6 foot nine inches who could run like a gazelle.

Smithy chopped him down with a perfect tackle around the boot laces. He was such a tremendous defender.

He broke so many bones during his career, he was dubbed the bionic man or $7M Man.

Great at putting a forward through a hole that he would create. Made Rod Reddy in to a representative player through his ball playing ability.

Never backed down from trouble.

The master of the chip kick and real mental telepathy with Changa.
