Signings come June 30

With June 30 looming and the sharks cashed up, its time to look at who we need.

With the rumors strong Luke Bailey is coming Sharks way, that will certainly help aleviate Jason Stevens leaving.

Jason Cayless is off contract and would be another asset up front, espically with the rumors saying that both Wille Mason & Ryan O'Hara heading to the Roosters.

Matt King has yet to resign at Melbourne and would be a great buy for us in centres with Mellor now in 30's and Vagana with 1 maybe 2 years left.

The other is hooking position which is continous point, there is a player off contract who is a hlf back and not signed, as the club is chasing a big name half back, Michael Monaghan at Manly, is the player we should chase as hooker, could play 80 min, another kicking option, is tough nuggety and would also be backup to Kimmorley.

the 4 signings of Luke Bailey,Jason Cayless,Matt KIng & Michale Monaghan would be great and with us upgrdaing young players contracts, would not be much money left, bar maybe couple of lower graders looking for start

Props we should go after are Mason, Cayless or Bailey. If we can get one of them then Stevos spot is set. My main concern is how the heck are we gonna replace a 20 hit-up, 30 tackle prop in Nutley???

Stevens - Cayless
Nutley - Bailey

I'd be adding an elite 3/4 to that actually

No guarantee Mellor will go around again - and do we want him to?
That leaves who?? Goldy - on the outer obviously. Scott - not setting the world on fire. Mellars? Samia?

The best 3/4 in the lower grades is Goodwin by a mile, from what I've seen but we don't seem to give the under 20's much of a go in the NRL at our club.

I'd like to see us put in a bid for Lolesi. First there was Vagana, now Whatuira. Lolesi is ripe to be the next of a line of outstanding Kiwi centres IMO

Lolesi - no. He is a hot head and the last thing our side needs is another one of those.

Chase Mason and Cayless and have a huge pack. Then if the money is left over look for a cheap centre. I believe that if we add two big names to our pack, with our halves it will not matter who we have out wide.

Worry about buying a centre next season with Nigels money... Or load a 2nd year contract with King...

PJ Marsh would have been a great signing. Shame he just signed a 3 year deal.

You've got to be kidding!!!

One more knock on his neck and he's cactus.

One of the worst tacklers in the NRL.

The mason rumors seem to have died down compared to how strong they were month or two ago. Anyone herd some rumors?

I'd go Mason, Bailey/Cayless and then a good center like lolesi, king, berrigan, or bell. that would be great espically with stevo and mellors likley to retire

We need a classy prop to replace Stevo.

At least 1 if not two backline players.

We are have very little in depth in the halves if any top liners get injured.
It will be hard to entice someone to come over with B.K & Dykes in front of them however. It's a pity we couldn't keep Burns or Porter last year.

Mellors legs might only make this season as a backline player.
He could possibly play as an impact player off the bench next year.
He can cover plenty of positions.

Bailey for sure.

King if we get him for around 180k.

I reckon Hilder is ok and what class hookers are up for sale anyway?

Save some cash for Greg Inglis when he is off contract.

Thats an interesting question. With his current form, f**k I want him to stay!. Although in the long-term, whilst so many quality props are on the market, that might not be so wise

i know for a fact the tigers want bailey

The Tigers want a lot of quality players however the likes of Bailey are more inclined to go to a team more likely of success and have better chances of rep honours. The Tigers would have to offer Bailey a fair bit more than the Sharks to get his signature I'd say.

My guess is that Stevo will go around again in 06 so I would do what it takes to get Matt King . He can play Centre , wing , or second row. Maybe another prop will want to change clubs , lets wait and see.

DAVINCI, good point about a 3/4- utility back.....I don't know who his contract situation is, but he is behind schifoske at canberra and I reckon MARSHALL CHALK would be a super buy. fantastic player.

Mat King however is talked about as being a VERY big chance of being announced as coming home to us june 30th.
