We really need a top quality centre and a top quality prop. With Bailey on the market i think we are a good chance at signing him and with a 150-180k centre in King i think we would be set. We get alot younger without losing quality...

Inglis signed a 3 year deal a few weeks back.

King could get up to 280k maybe higher. Manly need a centre just like we need Mason. Manly will go all out for King and pay overs for him. No point in getting into a bidding war with them when we need a prop and 2nd rower. Don't forget next year Hutch and Nuts are off contract and both I think from the top of my head(I know Nutley will be 32 I think) will be over 30. So to sign Luke Bailey or Jason Cayless who are both young international props is a must.

Also if we want to keep Simmons, Reece Williams and co. shouldn't we lock them up now? I would be so pissed off if we wasted 2 years on Simmons getting him to NRL level for him to piss off. But then again that would mean we wouldn't have to worry about him replacing Peachey - hmm....

Cat amongst the pigeons time.

This is not directed at any one poster, rather it is a generalisation about how these "who should we get discussions" go.

A very common argument against buying player x or player y on this forum is "we don't want him, he's injury prone", "he's hurt too much" or similar.

If that were indeed a valid reason not to buy a player why would anyone here want Luke Bailey? The guy is made of glass. Has he ever played a full season? Last year he managed 7 games.

I think to replace Stevens you need a Stevens type player. One who just goes straight ahead at 100000 miles an hour. That's not Luke Bailey. He's a bit of a plodder and rarely hits the line at speed because he likes his swerve and step stuff.

I rate Cayless ahead of Bailey actually.

There's bound to be more props on the market soon to look at and we might get an 80 minutes Hutch at a bargain basement price.

Yep agree- I dont think Bailey is the man for us- rather see stevo go around again and look for a cheaper front rower that could step up.

I reckon Hilder is ok and what class hookers are up for sale anyway?
Exaclty Hilder is solid and Kingston is playing phenomenal, why spend money on a hooker that could go towards a second prop. Let's hope Mason signs for a motza at the Roosters and so we can pick up a cheap O'Hara to go with Bailey (if we sign him) and whoever we sign in the backs.

As an aside are the any players in the UK worth bringing back? (Probably can't tackle at the moment but ET can teach em that.)

How bout this. Probably get whipped for this but...

Willie Mason to play in the centres??? If Mellor can play this position then Mason can. He does have speed and would probably have more of a chance at breaking the line when combined with his size and strength.

What do you guys think??

his strength and size would be much better utilised as a forward.

I would go with Mason, he is top quailty player with loads of ability and would fit in

with or game plan perfectly, also i think we need a big strong player wich we lack a

little of. I think most of our forwards (bar Stevo and) are more hardworking gritty

forwards eg, Nutley, Gallan, Hilder, Williams. We could really do with a big strong

offloading and line breaking forward like willie.

But then again we do have hutch and LooLoo

Manly going after Matt King, Manly are after Jamie Lyons who is playing in England, and have apparently chasing Matt Orford hard, they are more inclined for Lyons with a connection through Noel Cleal

There's no way in the wide world Manly will get Lyon in this silly season. Parramatta still have an NRL contract with him and would have to release him to play with any other NRL club. There's still a year to go on that contract. They only released him to St Helens because they don't play against Parramatta.

Another misguded Sharks fan

Parra were actually willing to release Lyon to any club other then Manly.

Penrith were interested but couldn't fit him under the cap.
