Some tough decisions again this year.
Don't expect the big influx of players to arrive at Shark Park like it did this year. Firstly in 2003 we were operating with a skeleton playing roster and were way under the cap and budget. The only way big name signings like Mat Rogers will arrive is if we let some big names go plus experienced middle of the road players.
OK, I'd like to state I don't know for sure if the following are all at the end of contract but this is what I'd like to see happen.
Gooneeeeee!
Sam Isemonger
Matt Bickerstaff
Dean Bosnich
Chris Beattie
Hasan Saleh
Ryan McGoldrick
Under Consideration depending form.
Jason Kent
Paul Franze (Doesn't seem to rate with Raper)
David Peachey ( Played his best game for a very long time last week. But running on old legs.)
Jason Stevens (Also not getting any younger and next year could be a disaster)
Michael Sullivan (Might be forced to let go if other desperate clubs make a big offer)
Alot of the younger blokes like Pelo,Ross,R.Williams,Galloway,Green,Newton,Dumas,Russo,Vagg,Kingston,Makisi,Simmons,Ciraldo are ready to step up to regular starting spots in Premier League next year and force their way to bench or starting positions in first grade.
As for some of the big name players I have penciled in for exclusion next year, this is the problem. Do we let them leave the club when they feel like and risk a recruitment year where there is know one decent to recruit to replace them? Or do we say the best years are behind them and take advantage of a year where there will be some gun young players to take there positions? Which is smarter and proactive?
Do you really want to miss out on the chance of signing a Billy Slater to let Peach have another year for sentimental sake?
Our props in Nutley,Stevens & Beattie are ALL in their 30's. I think it's time to freshen up at least one, possibly two of these spots.
Anyway just my thinking at the moment so I hope no onegets offended.
