I just watched the Indigenous vs Maori game. Hunt in my opinion looked ordinary. Big and slow. Naden was good.
Hunt got a burner and went off, but I agree, he looks so unfit or was unsure of what to do.
One thing I've noticed with a lot of big boppers and that is they run in support of another big unit.
If the ball carrier dies with ball the second big player practically rules himself out of the remainder of that set as he can't get back and reset for another run or the play moves on from him. It happened several times with Hunt tonight but it happens in other teams as well.
Big units need to cart the ball up in tandem one after the other in an attempt to fold in the D.
I hope benji has clued onto this.
Hey Benji, support players are your quick men and not the big men, it's not rocket science so please train your team to roll on.

I reckon he is a high probability to make it to first grade

You’re optimistic. He gets manhandled almost everytime he touches the ball and he is playing against pups. Have a look at Jack Todd for the bulldogs, that’s what we need. Johansen not even close at this stage. Have a look at the pass with two minutes to go, he is way short of being an NRL prop, needed to hit the line hard not throw a pathetic long ball. 🤦‍♂️

I don’t think we will do better than 12th this year. I’m hopeful but I think that’s about the mark, we’ve pulled some good players out of decent systems but looking at the roster I’m worried it won’t translate. I think a lot depends on May, Hunt and Fainu maybe more so than Luai, the forwards have to be able to lay the foundation for our halves. I’m not sure Hunt is the man to do it, he had plenty of really talented mobile boys around him at the sharks.

I still like him. He is a goer.

I also like Kit L but Kit turned it up today a lot more than Johannssen. Matamua to me was also dissapointing. He did make some good tackles but he didn't do what we need from him.

Nah - the same as you don't blame Benji if a player does stupid crap. People have to own their shit.
Probably a flame up his arse when he got sent off for that stupid tackle, in no uncertain terms in front of everyone could have contributed to Nadens improved attitude tho

It’s only a trial if you lose.
And nowhere near our first side, but that was an uninspiring start.
A bit like how we finished last year.

It might have. I'm not writing Benji off at all.

As for the trial we weren't great but I think Galvin showed he can play. Faataape can do a job in the centres if called upon. I reckon he is a great back-up player. If Kit keeps playing like that he'll play plenty of first grade this season.

I'm worried we've gone to market and not got the right guy.
I wouldn’t be getting to worried about his first outing.
Last night was like a rep game, good players playing hard and fast.
He got a burner early and considering they were going to use him for the first 20min of each half it made the whole thing disjointed.
I'm not defending him but if he didn't play last night and played today, which I thought was a sub std trial except for Galvin, he probably would have had a good game and we wouldn't be thinking like this.
Also, recruitment is such a hard at job. It's not just seeing who is available but wrangling the salary cap to fit players in. Is Johnny and Bud going, who is moving up, who are we releasing bla bla bla.
I agree that Johannssen doesn't look athletic enough, imposing enough to not only make the NRL, but to have an impact.
It looks like Kit's wonderful pathway form will make him a handy replacement for Pole if he's unavailable.
What was the name of the Second half ½ back. He was a tackling machine and kept us in the game imo.
Apparently came down from up north and trying his hand in the big smoke.

With respect, I’m not throwing the season away after the first trial, which probably had one regular FG player in it for half a game.
Hunt will have a role, he was never going to be an 80min player.
But he will go hard when he’s called on to go hard. He’s an impact player.

We need impact from our forwards. I'd be considering playing the kid.

Was it Jarod Haywood or Tannous ? I'm not sure.

If the kid came down from up north it’s likely it was Haywood as he can play in the halves & as a hooker plus he is an absolute gun.Tannous is Sydney born & bred.

Maybe he was talking about Tristan Hope. I thought he was playing dummy half when TDS went off.
