So you would rather our best players play for NSW instead of the Knights?

Ofcourse I do, who wouldn't I want all our players to reach the top and be successful. Why else do they play? It means alot to them so why wouldn't i? Because we lose them for 3 - 6 games a year?. They could fall over at training and do that if they have to miss the weeks atleast it's on a positive.

Yes and no. Yes because I like to watch them succeed. No because we're paying their salaries and they're being forced to miss 3 games a year, but still getting paid for it. The NRL really need to look at altering the draw so that SoO matches have their own dedicated weekend in which there are no club games, so that the teams can be named and players into camp on Tuesday, and have the match on Saturday or Sunday night that weekend. That way, the players selected don't have to miss any club games (injury permitting) and fans aren't subjected to seeing their team, minus its best players, lose to a team unaffected by rep selection.

yeah soo definitely needs to stand alone. the bye system this year is ****ed, again. i mean having byes in rd 7 and 11 isnt overly practical is it?

also, has anyone noticed that there are 8 regular backrowers/locks in the nsw team?

bird
fitzy
mason
hoffman
gallen
laffranchi
tupou
simo

considering hindmarsh, ryan, creagh, maitua, stewart, lewis, watmough, minch, heighington, mateo all havent got a look in too, thats pretty damn good depth.

maybe we could swap qld some backrowers for a couple of halves? i.e. prince, cronk :)

Bellamy said he liked forwards who could easily play both front and back row and had good defense agasint more agile players which Simpson definately is. MEGA congrats to the man and hope he plays his heart out and does his country proud.

ALTHOUGH I am a huge fan of SOO and love it throughly, it does hurt our knights team tell ya that much. We been playing bad with them in the team so what makes you think its going to get any worse? Maybe it will serve as a kick up the arse to the younger players to step up and take on a more leading role, so when the SOO players get back our team is much better and 'whole' who will win the premiership...

lol settle down mate, it was mean as making light of the fact that bird, gallen, tupou and laffranchi are nuggets.
but hey while im at it, i can also play this game..
185 centimeters = 6.06955381 feet to be exact.

so how in the world laffranchi and tupou are "well over 6ft" has me confused and you would hardly say 2cm (might i remind you also that 2 centimeters accounts to exactly 0.787401575 of an inch) is well over six foot. and 6'1 would also probably not be catergorized into the "well over 6ft" catergory.seriously though can we learn to take a joke people. we all support the same team here..f**k.

Mate I can take a joke las well as anyone but what I do object to is the snotty little high school remarks like the one in your post. My point was that the NSW selectors were obviously going for a different kind of forward pack than your regular "nuggety" front rowers but you chose to take one word out of my post and act like a tool.

I have nothing against you LG and admire your obvious passion for the blue and reds but sometimes your posts are more about trying to make yourself sound cool rather than actually having an opinion on a subject.

No hard feelings mate

You guys have got to be the most selfish people ever. Simmo is a legend, he has been one of the most underrated players year after year even by his own supporters, im stoked his there. And Kids was always going to be there. Good on them I hope they tear it up.

I am happy for Simmo, and agree, he is a fantastic player.

My comments were more on the fact he was selected on the back of one good game this season.

I think there are a few players out there he probably deserved selection ahead of him.

That said, he is quality, and will do well by the squad.

Good on Simmo being selected. Of course I'd rather see him playing for us but every player aspires to rep footy. I would like to see something done with the scheduling of SOO difficult I know, but there has to be a way of playing them without disrupting the competition. As Smithy rightly points out ATM it makes the competition unfair for all teams. This will prob be Simmos swan song in SOO anyway. He was talking about standing down from rep footy after this year.

The only issue with having SOO on its own weekend is the workload it creates for rep players which is the reason it was scrapped in the first place.

I think the reason it's run as it is at the moment has more to do with Television. They are milking everything they can. Monday night games are killing clubs like us because nobody goes to them, SOO City Country games are the same they are revenue raisers for Television, I don't think the players work rate even comes into the equation. Maybe they should reduce the SOO to one game! reduce the rounds in the competition, it's out of balance now anyway. None of those things will happen though because that effectively reduces the number of games and TV doesn't want that. They run the game and what they want they will get.

nah mate, no hard feelings.
ill consider your criticism, and try to better my posts by doing so.
reading my original post i realised that it could quite easily be taken the wrong way, like i said though it was meant to be making light of the fact gallen and bird are not exactly tall so to speak.
but in all seriousness you do have a good point, that he has gone for taller forwards and im sure he has a good reason for doing so. i just hope that this strategy works just as good as it did in game 1 !!!
