yes that right, creator of the simpsons matt groening has confirmed the idea. Been along time in the making and should make an absolute fortune at the box office.

I take it that means Matt has decided to wind up the TV series by 2008 then? I'm pretty sure he said that there wasn't going to be a movie until the series TV finished.
If he does wind up the series it will be the end of an amazing run, I don't think any other series has sustained it's popularity and quality for so long.

best cartoon in television history.

the movie will no doubt signal the end and the storyline they come up with will be bloody interesting to say the least

series 4, 5, and 6 had some of the best lines ever

I love the Burns bear one

Homers watching Kent Brockman talking about Burns bear and how it could be in your house help up by a loved one(which Maggieas is doing with the bear getting in the way of the TV)

"Maggie put that mouldy old bear down Im trying to watch TV. Mouldy? old? IM GONNA GET SOMETHING TO EAT!!!!"

or from the stampy episode (one of the best ever)

'now I've had my head inside an elephant, a hippo and a giant sloth'

I'd include series 3 though - thats when it really started to 'click'
I love just about every episode ever made but 3-6 are the ones I can just laugh at again and again and again and still want more

The Simpsons is the best animated series ever IMO, but I think the movie will have a lot to live up to if it's to match South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut.

Al Bundy brought me up in my early years then Homer came along and continues to do so today!

'Hello my name is Mr Burns, I believe you have a letter for me?'
'Ok Mr Burns If you could just tell me your first name'
'...... I dont know!!!'

also in that episode the Simpsons are trying to fix Stampys eating habits

Homer: Lets tie him down so he wont eat so much
Lisa: Dad thats cruel
Homer:Oh everyting is cruel according to you, pulling on his ears is cruel poking him wiyth a stick is cruel chaining him in the yard is cruel EVERYTHING IS CRUEL!

*Santas little helper and Snowball 2 go across the room balencing on balls*

Homer: whats up with them?
Lisa: I think they want some attention
Homer: GOOD LUCK!!!

Burns has some classice lines:

Burns: "I don't like being outdoors Smithers, for one thing there are
too many fat children"

Burns: "Hmmm... who's that goat-legged fellow? I like the cut of his jib..." Smithers:
"Er, Prince of Darkness, sir, he's your 11 o'clock."

I'm a big fan of Futurama too, I was disappointed when it got canned after only four series'. A far more intelligent show than The Simpsons.

Would be keen to see how they went with the movie. The last few series have been down on the middle ones, so hopefully they go out with a bang.

hope it wont be 2 or 3 back to back episodes, that would be crap

they should do the movie with how old they all would be in 4 yrs time, for something different

i like these quotes:

Homer: Pork
Lisa: no
H: ham?
L: no
H: bacon?
L: Dad, they're from the same animal
H: yeah sure lisa, a magical wonderful creature

also the boogeyman episode cracks me up

I've got all four seasons of futurama on dvd.. If you wanna enjoy them more turn on the audio commentaries - some very funny comments from Billy West(voice of fry, zoidberg, prof etc) and John DiMaggio( Bender and others). Futurama : The Movie was thought of but they couldn't get the funding which sucks because a movie would have owned all. btw dj - that is my fav line from futurama lol

I dunno if I could handle the simpsons ending, lol. It's been on tv ever since I remember watching anything. It's always been there. I know it will always be around but geez it will be a very sad day when it ends. Even though it is not as good as it once was, tv will suck without it... Though I'm sure foxtel will keep pumping it out as will ten.
