The Singapore Rugby League have acquired the services of Peerose Shah. When Singapore make there debut on the international scene, Peerose is set to become the first Singapore dual International.

Peerose has been a regular for the Singapore Rugby Union side since 1992. Peerose brings to the Singapore Rugby League plenty of experience. Tournaments he has participated in include the Hong Kong 7's, Sri Lanka 7's, South East Asian Games, World Cup qualifiers and the Cobra International 10's. He has also represented Singapore in many 1 off test matches and triangular tournaments.

Peerose has followed Rugby League for many years as he watched the NRL on Star Sports. When he heard about Rugby League coming to Singapore he was very happy and said it would be an honour to represent Singapore in Rugby League.

With Peerose's experience and dedication he is just what the Singapore Rugby League are after. We are extremely happy to have a player of Peerose Shah's calibre and we will be looking forward to seeing Peerose in action for the Singapore Rugby League in the near future.

An excellent piece of news. The organisation seems to be making their early steps firm ones and that can only be a good sign.

Does anyone know the full Singapore story? How did it start? Who is it? Is it like the Greece and Lebanon RL beginnings? Are there plans for Singapore itself?

The Singapore RL is being setup by SingaporeXIII on this forum. Top bloke, and is doing alot of work to get the game setup. He is currently based in Australia, however did spend a long time in Singapore and realised the large number of people who were ex-pats from Australia and NZ who wanted to play League but couldn't cause there was no competition, or people based in Singapore who were quite knowledgable about League (ie knew who guys like Stacey Jones were).

So yeah in short, its at the moment based out of Australia, however there is a significant amount of interest coming from Singapore.

The eventual plan of course would be to see League played in Singapore. You can find out all the latest at the website at - http://www.singaporerugbyleague.com
