I heard a few years ago that Sloan, Sullivan and Amone were all on $500k just as they were getting their first taste of the top grade.Using figures is a really poor way to describe the salary cap nowadays. The cap continues to increase and a $500k in the cap is a lot different to what it was 3-4 years ago. We really should talk about the salary cap in percentages. I.E the offer to Douehi is 6% of our cap.
agree but for 2026 we need decent depth for halves as no doubt Ilias will be moved on where ever possible unless he is on peanuts?we need a big prop, like someone who gets us meters, obviously a half back as well so what are the available options when November 1 hits? and how much of our salary cap have we got left?
Each player will still have a different value based on their talent and career trajectory / age within the confines of the increasing cap though so it's still ok to talk $.Using figures is a really poor way to describe the salary cap nowadays. The figures that get quoted by the media are best guess estimates and whispers from player managers looking for the best deal for their clients.Didn't the tigers up it from $350k - $400k for 1 year, now they extended it to 2 years but dropped it back to $350k per year. is that right ?
Seen a interview with one of the players who did not go he said he did not even know about it.Could this be the reason other did not go a simple miscommunications from the club with the former playersCertainly disappointing, and definitely the clubs rep is shot. But, I will say the four 4 players who did show up, it says more about the kind of people they are....all heart those boys.
We have Atkinson, LKT, and Flanagan for five-eighth.agree but for 2026 we need decent depth for halves as no doubt Ilias will be moved on where ever possible unless he is on peanuts?
Flano
LKT
Reed?
AD?
SSmith?
Other?
obtaining a gun half will be almost impossible for 2026
AD mo ving between halves, centres and lock and even in the one game ie Bulldogs half to lock was impressive enough on the weekend showing great utility
But every 3 x ACL reco player has a $ contract ceiling no matter how good their form
The Tigers will most likely have Sullivan returning from Souths for the 2026 season. However, maybe they would consider Ilias in a trade deal for Doueihi.Whether we get Adam or not, I love that we finally have 2 men on the case in Daniel & Tim.. who can move quickly in negotiations.. were not waiting for Flanno to finish training and get on the blower in his corolla.
This actually is a perfect example of club loyalty vs money..... Adam is a loyal tigers player who wants to stay put.. but his club has not backed him at all year on year.. was it 150k they were gonna offer last year.. hes not in their longterm plans.. its almost a panic extension offered after yesterdays game.
Anyway.. we have to offer a good bump over their offer to pull him out of his club.. and weve done that.. im rly comfortable with the offer.. even if we go higher or a year longer.. but again atleast we actually have Daniel to manage these negotiations, i.e. that wont be the reason we miss out... and think previously Flanno's negotiation methods have been an issue.
Ilias played juniors at the TigersThe Tigers will most likely have Sullivan returning from Souths for the 2026 season. However, maybe they would consider Ilias in a trade deal for Doueihi.
Jock Madden has signed for the Tigers for 26/27, don’t think Ilias will be on their radarThe Tigers will most likely have Sullivan returning from Souths for the 2026 season. However, maybe they would consider Ilias in a trade deal for Doueihi.
1 mil against 700K. Thats a lot of “loyalty” to give upAD is not entirely a WT man, he started at Souths. Not withstanding that they low-balled him at the end of last season to the point he completed a medical with us. Does that show loyalty from the WT? And only now he's putting together a good year of football they seem to be waking up.
He's 27 as of today (happy birthday), one would think that securing as much in $$ would be a priority given his medical history and remaining playing time.
2yrs @ 500k is a good deal.
