Jesus H f**k .
The whining over a song before the season even commences is comical .
It's a simple tune. Explains exactly what RL is ..entertainment .
That's all .
Who gives a f**k if he's pom or old .
It's the catchy tune that is important.

Why can't they use an Aussie song?
Why can't they use an Aussie artist?

Answer those simple questions.

It's not like the old drug addict is exactly flavour of the month, year or decade.
They will have his head in all the promo's
And it will be as cringeworthy as that Bon jovi dogshit.

Is it too much to ask they at least support local music?
They have no clue.
It is literally two steps backwards after last year.
I am fine with kiwi music getting a go too FTR
They are part of the NRL.

The NRL is not the bastion of Australian music FFS.

As pointed out by a number of people, its a catchy song that obviously promotes what the NRL see as its marketing agenda - ENTERTAINMENT!!!

Bad luck if it insults your sensibilities as an Australian.

Its a f*cking song. Move on.

Not a bad choice....most of the others over the years have been cringeworthy, especially that Tina Turkey load of slop.

The NRL aren't going to play the full song in the commercial...why not opt for Russell Morris' "The Real Thing". Make a comparison between NRL and AFL.

"Come and see the real thing, come and see the real thing, come and see!"

If that isn't an option, go for Nine Inch Nails' "Closer" with John Hopoate giving the digit to an opposition player.

"I want to f**k you like an animal, I want to feel you from the inside, you make me closer to god" - Insert a Mormon reference during the commercial.

Russell Morris would be a great choice considering they seem to only go for songs from last century.

Unfortunately he is not some famous person from overseas.
Nobody will like it otherwise.

Shoulda got Justin Bieber and get all the beleibers into footy, get girls hooked now and in 10-15yrs they will be having kids which equals more future fans. Now that is long term planning.

Robbie = Pommy nice person, Perth Red will love it. More reason for the Perth Pirates to be immediately elevated into the NRL.

Robbie Williams is all class, Limp Bizkit and Billy Idol are too hardcore for the kiddies and mom.
Lucky i dont have a say, i am sure "Rage against the Machine" would go over well with the oldies.

Well Tom Morello now plays with Springsteen, one of the funniest things ive ever seen were all the 60 year olds cheering is rage version solo in Ghost of Tom Joad at the springsteen concert

how does an 18 yr old song by Robbie Williams cater to passive wacthers?
why cant a classic aussie song do exactly the same thing?
INXS have a heap of songs that would be as good...the exact same demographic.

Why are you so obsessed with Aussie songs though? I can't imagine NHL fans having a cry if someone other than Bryan Adams was chosen to have their song represent the season.

Of all the things to have a cry about, the nationality of the artist really shouldn't be one. Music is international you insular f**k.

He's got an image to manage these days but his early career he was a known dickhead.

RATM are old as shit, by the way. I was 3 when Rage Against the Machine was released in 92. A lot of people who listened to Rage when they came out will be in their 50s with children and potentially grandchildren
