If the notorious cheer girls brawl game in Townsville gets a replay can someone record it for me? Cheers!

Actually if someone with the right setup and know how could record all of them and archive them in good quality that would be amazing.

I’d guess most of the games would be part of that 30 game box set they released for the 20th season ?

Anybody been watching any old school games to pass the time ? I watched a game from 1991 today, Manly v Norths at North Sydney Oval, standing room only with people even having to stand on the staircase of the stand to get a view. Good old fashioned footy featuring the likes of Ridge, Halligan, Lyons, Toovey, Fenech, Florimo, Larson, Bella, Iro, Hasler, Moore, O’Connor, Blake, Roberts

'91's probably my favourite ever season, Beave. It was the peak of that late-80s/early-90s era, and league took off in NZ during that time. I rode in the Green Machine all the way to that heartbreaking loss to Penrith in that year's GF.

TVNZ outdid itself too, broadcasting not just the GF live but finals too. Day-games in Sydney, so prime 5pm kick-off, Sat and Sun, in NZ.

Most of NZ was 'mad for Manly' back then. Lowie and Ridgy were the main drivers of that, as you'll recall.

I have been watching some of these games and thoroughly enjoyed them. One of the things that has stuck out to me was how the game was so different back in the early 2000s. There were low penalty counts, good flowing footy, no unnecessary stoppages for bull shit faked injuries, the trainers were unseen. One ref and the game flowed and no mucking around and he was in charge. Tim Mander and Sean Hampstead were bloody epic. I have actually found myself preferring these throwback games more than what the NRL is currently dishing up as a product.

Also it has made me appreciate some players I probably didnt see enough of back then, I didnt realise how skillful Campion was and Ivan Cleary was a bloody tough unit. I could go on...

Yeah sometimes it is like watching a different sport ! Last 2 days I’ve watched games from 91,95,97 and 2008 and the early 90s was the best to watch

I could not believe in the Warriors 02 semi vs Sharks and I do not recall a single penalty for a high tackle just because the technique was so different. And I think there were only 2 in the whole game for too long in the ruck haha.

Bit of extra fatigue as well allowed the skilful halves to really shine in that era when the big units started to tire

One game I watched Cliffy Lyons turned a 20-8 deficit into a 24-20 win in the space of 10 mins with an outside ball to Menzies, an inside to Haumono and then an intercept expertly positioning his winger for the match winner

I remember there were quite a few changes to the interchange rules, but i forget when they were and whether they helped or hindered us at the time (apart from 1995 of course) Dont have access to Sky so am missing out on these retro games. :/
