Just outa curiousity, I found the dates that Horror Movie (Skyhooks) and Jump In My Car (Ted Mulry Gang) were number one hits in Australia, and wanted to see what was happening in local sporting at the time.

When Horror Movie was #1 - 5/4/75 & 12/4/75 .... it was the first two weeks of the 1975 season. Valleys were reigning premiers, and would have one of their worst seasons ever finishing with the dreaded wooden spoon. The week before, Wests held out a determined Redcliffe 18-17 in the Woolies pre-season final. Results for the first two premiership rounds were -

And When Jump In My Car was #1 (24/1/76-28/2/76) .... it was still cricket season. Qld only played one match during this time, a rained-out draw against the red-hot Sandgropers at the Gabba.
