Well not everyone in Canberra supports the Raiders , so you just cant say we are showing it in Canberra, just show Canberra or you are Showing it in Brisbane just show Brisbane etc

Greeneyed, it's called brand recognition and in non-Sydney areas that is the local club.

How many non-NRL supporters in Melbourne recognise NRL teams other than Melbourne Storm? I don't suppose it matters too much though as from past experience the ads are only televised in Melbourne at a time when few people are watching telly anyways. Most are in bed sleeping.

I didn't say that. However you have to recognise that in one team towns the vast bulk of people DO support their local team. What it means though is that you have to show more than the absolute minimum cover of the Raiders in the local market. And you show more of the Storm in THAT local market. It actually makes marketing sense. And it is nonsense NOT to. In Canberra, our main competition is the Brumbies. The ARU ads are totally focussed on ... guess who????? The Brumbies.... I wonder why?

As for the ARU, one team in a international competition that is relativly new so your not going to get many supporters for NSW/QLD and elsewhere unless they are ex pats. Where as RL has been around alot longer so more likely people will support another team other than Canberra.
I guess the NRL are trying to show all the teams, If Canberra wanted to promote themselves maybe they could approach WIN etc and produce there own add for the Canberra supporters

These comments are truly ridiculous. The NRL actually developed ads with a regional slant LAST YEAR. What I am saying is that what they have done this year is silly. We know Sydney people dislike all the clubs outside Sydney and think they are the centre of the world... but hey... you are NOT.

And even if the NRL didn't do that last year... how sensible would it be for the NRL to spend money showing an ad in a local market that annoys the hell out of the local population??????? I mean honestly, ask yourself????

Of course the Raiders show their own ads. However, it would make SENSE for the NRL to actually show the flexibility to SUPPORT local efforts, as they do in the ARU ads.......

Hate to break it to you, but not all Sydney people dislike clubs outside of Sydney :roll:
Using the idea of regional ads, why didnt the NRL just show Sydney teams in Sydney :?:
As for why the NRL don't have the regional ads this year, they probably feel there is enough exposure of the one team, one city clubs

The vast bulk of the ads involve St George, the Roosters, Souths and Penrith.... as well as Parramatta and Wests Tigers and Manly and Cronulla.... Or haven't you noticed?

And why would the NRL think that one city teams get enough promotion given that many of them are under sustained attack from other codes?
