Slight flaw in the new finals system?

or they could just make it a top 6 finals system:

week 1 - teams 1 and 2 get the week off
(game a) 3 v 6
(game b) 4 v 5

week 2
(game c) 1 v (winner of game b)
(game d) 2 v (winner of game a)

week 3 (grand final)
(winner of game c) v (winner of game d)

This is an idea I have been pushing for sometime. Lose and you are out.

But I don't see the NRL taking it up, they would lose too much money from having less games.

The top 4 have got to the last 4. The system works.

The AFL shows over a number of years this system produces the best teams in the last 2 weeks of the finals the vast majority of times, as it should be.

5th-8th making the prelims should be very rare.

The system works.

It has been a pretty average finals series. All the higher seed teams have won, and in most games a team has shot out to a 12-14 point lead in the first 20 minutes or so. Making it very difficult/impossible for the other teams.

Disappointing after so many crackers during the season.
