Small Changes to Make Team Stronger

I really believe we may need to tinker a bit to get the best out of best available players plus start playing to our strengths now that we know what they are...

Based on the above Im suggesting the below slight changes.

1. Have 4 forwards on the bench

2. Rein must play 80 min as a hooker (he has to make this happen) as a 2nd hooker is a waste of a impact player on the bench

3. Now Frizell is back u need to try and fit in Mathews, JDB, Creagh, Marketo into the squad - they all need to play during a game as they are all crucial to ensuring that we continue playing the high intensity defensive game for 80 min which we are now know is key to our success..

4. Could u imagine if we had Packer in the team!! FMD talk about an aggro forward pack...

I can't agree. Rein has finally started to show some form and I think the reason for it is having lestrange on the bench.

Why would you alter somethig that has been so important for our side this year?

It's so obvious Rein can't play 80 minutes why would someone even suggest it after what we've seen this season?

Disagree with point 2. Rein has improved considerably since he started playing less minutes.

Marketo will drop off the bench when Friz returns.

Mary and Co needs to rotate the forwards so that they remain relatively fresh.

I don't think we can have both Mathews and jake in the team an personally I think Mathews offers a lot more in attack an D jake hasn't done enough to warrant his spot yet Mathews has made a massive impact since returning I agree with rein tho as most hookers play 80 still don't no if he is at that stage in his career yet tho it would be a massive benefit to have four forwards on the bench especially of the new inter change rule comes in next year packer in for Heath wow that would be a solid team if only he was able to play this year

I have bagged Rein for a while. He is finally playing better. Agree with having L'Strange on the bench however I would rather have

Matthews
Marketo
JDB
Creagh

Markets can play hooker.

Hopefully Rein can keep his form up.

Lets keep an eye on Le'strange over the coming month, for some reason his cool mojo hasnt been there in the last month... he seems panicked.. I cant help but wonder if something has happened off-field, a chat from mary or something.. cause hes stressed.

Hopefully he comes good, but if he doesnt and you want an impact player, thats where id put someone that could play dummy half for a while, such as a Quinlan/Cook type... maybe we dont have him yet.. or maybe a Marketo, Garvey or Crook could be that change-up.. maybe even Keating.. maybe not.. but that could be one area to spice things up if Le'strange struggles.

Longterm though.. are there any other hookers who dont go 80mins? I do agree its something Rein should work towards with his fitness, but for 2015 it would be madness to change that part of the defensive formula.

Everything you said is bang on I mentioned this exact thing earlier on a thread, when he first come in I was looking forward to him coming on he gave us some real go forward but the past few games he just seems so off his game his passing in particular his passing game has dropped dramatically, great post mate

There'd only be a handful of hookers who play 80 mins. Even Farah hasn't been this year.
That really surprises me, I did some quick searching on stat sites (which may be bogus info), but it shows most of them go 80 minutes, like Ennis, Ballin, Segyaro, Lichaa, Smith all ~80 minutes & Farrah/Friend/Peats doing about 72 minutes

Maybe the site is just wrong, just surprised me because a few teams do run an impact kind of back on the bench who probably does some minutes from hooker, but I cant think of many teams who run literally 2 specialist hookers?

I only thought that smith and Farah play 80 minutes? IMO, no hooker can play 80 minutes and be effective. Watch smith and in particular farah towards the end Each half. Im sure lately that halatau has been giving farah a break now and then. I'll never forget during that origin game when QLD made a second rower play hooker cause of injury. I think it may have been Costigan? Anyway he was goneeeee after only 20 minutes. Most tiring position on the field.
