SMH: Cayless & Cannings to return v Warriors but........

Looks like both centres from last nights game won't play.

PARRAMATTA Skipper Nathan Cayless and prop Aaron Cannings may return from broken arms for Saturday night's match against the Warriors, but winger Ben Smith is out with a fractured cheekbone. The Eels have also lost centre Junior Langi after releasing him to Salford, but Wellington teenager Josh Davis looks a ready-made replacement after his three-try effort in the Junior Kiwis' 22-12 win over England Academy on Sunday.

Surely Josh Davies wouldn't be coming straight in v Warriors they must be talking about for next year??

With that could the team be

1. Wade McKinnon
2. Ashley Graham
3. Luke O'Dwyer
4. Luke Burt
5. Matt Petersen
6. Chris Thorman/Adam Dykes
7. Michael Witt
8. Corey Pearson
9. Lee Hopkins
10. Michael Vella
11. NAthan Hindmarsh
12. Nathan Cayless (C)
13. Daniel Wagon

14. Dean Widders
15. Craig Stapleton
16. Aaron Cannings
17. Adam Peek

18. Justin Tsoulos
19. James Webster

Selection nightmares....Webster was great last game - can he be as effective vs the Warriors?.....I thought Tsoulos was good too....Peek, Stapo were also very good.

Keep Thorman in and Dykes out.

Surely they're talking in advance about Langi and Davis?

We couldn't bring Davis into our squad at this stage of the season, could we? And I thought Langi would've gone OS straight away if he was a mid-season signing, instead of hang around? *shrugs*

Actually I'm sure Langi will see out the season with Parra - reports here list Langi as "signed for 2005".

although the Tigers seemed to bring Benji Marshall down for a couple of games last year or the year before (i forget) before he was really at the club????

perhaps we can bring this David guy in because we have some of our squad heading overseas now - like Kaufusi for one????

well i would have thought so, but was unsure about the whole Benji Marshall thing last year, as i said????? who knows anyway, rules don't seem to be rules anymore, just like contracts aren't contracts

Benji was contracted to the Tigers way before June 30 last year, in fact Wests have a an affiliation with Keebra park high, the school he came from and have tied up most of their football side.

I'm certain the June 30 rule applies to both NRL and NSWRL.

I think Davis is on a similar scholarship that Marshall was on elelvatiion and has been for some time. As unlikely as it seems he could well be used this weekend.

ok fine, thanks for the clarification

however, there may be some type of loophole in regard to us releasing players from our squad now - before 2004 is over - to ESL????

maybe that is how we can bring people in, but again i'm not sure??

OK! I didn't know that.

depending on how he trains in the offseason could he make his debut Round 1 next season??

Can't see why not - if he is as good as they are writing him up to be then he could do a Karmichael and find himself in straight up.

or maybe they will give him a season or two just like the Dogs did with Sonny-Bill and the Roosters are doing this year with Solia.

lets hope we have a choice this time!!..this year we've had to rush Benny Smith due to Fresh and Lyon not being available for most of the year.

not sure about that eelevation

maybe he just needs to be given an opportunity, some players ala Ettingshausen, Fittler, Karmichael Hunt etc can just step up, perhaps he can be one of those????

but who knows at this stage

Tsoulos for Peek and Webster for Stapleton.

Don't put webster in for stapleton, that's pathetic and O' Dwyer isn't that bad. Also Davis can't play this week, He still has a 3rd test for NZ and they are talking about next year. I'm positive that Cayless and Cannings won't play. That stupid source is always wrong.
