SMH: Keating to sign new deal as coach gives him the nod

I can only assume the criticism of KK is that the people who watched him come through (myself included) pretty much always say that he will make it in the NRL, so when he hasn't won us games etc. it just isn't good enough for these people?

The baggings he has copped this year are uncalled for considering for 4 of the 5 games that he has played in he would have trained at the replacement hooker role, he may have played 6 in the Tigers game but he didn't know he was playing there until game day.

He trained in the halves for the Raiders game and we looked much sharper in attack than previous weeks and he was one of our best......why the heavy criticism, surely Morts has been more disappointing????? Not saying we should be bagging Morts either, just pointing out that he has been below his best this year but there is nowhere near as much hate for him as their is KK.......

I will be very happy if we sign KK!

Not knocking Keating at all, but some of the reason we looked sharper was because of Robson`s crisp service at dummy half. The guy won`t let us down wherever he plays. Surprisingly (to me) he looks better at hooker than half.

I have not been overly impressed with KK but I admire his loyalty if he chooses to stay. Besides I do not think it would be for big money.

He is a good little tackler. He is tough. He is fast.He is a good support player. He takes on the line.Puts in some nice kicks. He has had 12 first grade games.
What he has on mateo is he puts in every game-Im yet to see him come out and play hald arsed. This may sound very harsh but there are not too many islander players who stay at the top for 10+ years.lauititi -puletua-pritchard-Mateo-galauvo Where all capable of beeing at the highest level for atleast 8 season but most seem to put in 3-4 good years and fiz out

I have to agree, this could very much be the re-making of Robson. Someone mentioned (I think it may have been Lingard) that at a younger age someone should have converted him to a hooker.

He was energetic, sharp and very strong in defence. His direction from dumb half was also very good, I think he went the right way in attack most, if not all the time.

TBH his work showed how poor MK has been but the forwards did get more on a role then in any other game.

i really hope he re signs with us,although we lost against the raiders kk played great, along with Robson at 9.kk is a tough little bastard, much like his opposite on Sunday, and i think ando will stick with this combo . dont forget he hasn't played many games (broken jaw),and he is looking very sharp imho.

IMO KK is a tough kid who tackles well, runs the ball well, supports well and kicks ok. My major concern with him is after watching him for 2 years in 20s, 1 year in second grade when they won the comp , and quite a few F/G games now, I am yet to see him play as a ball player and set anyone up. He is a very individual player.

Well go back and watch the last 4 games before his Jaw injury last year and you will see the ball player. KK is the type of player that needs to know his role, he follows instructions and is a quick learner.

I have no problem with KK or Mortz in the halves, I think they will be fine but we need stability and allow these guys to grow into their role. It took Cronk, Pearce and Mullen a few years to become consistantand the same will occur with these two and the most important thing is to keep them at the club with guys like Hayne. If we can build a good backbone (1/6/7/9) then we will be competative with our backline and pack.

Andesron should be given time to build the team he wants.Last year he had Hagans team.He made some changes and they came off.
Everyone likes different things.Half the people on here want inu instead of burt-etc
We only see some things in a game.Guys like Ando see a lot more. They see the training and how the guys interact with each other.A good team will beat a champion side most times.Look at the man love in parra last year-Guys didnt want to elave.Thats the men we want.Even if they are a little less talented-They will get us there in the end.

The challenge is to go one better than waiting for a few years by winning this years NRL GF providing the correct send off for both Nathans. There may still be changes to the 1, 6, 7, 9 as this season unfolds particularly during the later part and especially when this squad has fully mobilized its 80 minute roll on with second phase plays and playing at the line with attackers running off our bunch of great ball players.

KK will definitely become a superstar of tomorrow in the game for sure!

Looks like his got heaps of potential from what we have seen so far, though he lacks some communication skills and i think he seems to be a quiet bloke ( i may b wrong) from seeing him in the eels fans day, hardly ever seen him say a word...just looking stoned and in boredom.

Why would we not sign KK? I just watched the game today and he looks good at half. Also on everyone saying why would we sign him ahead of mateo, well we do have 6 backs we only need 5. So obviously we would need 2 halves not 1. Also Mateo atm isnt showing to much interest where as KK is trying,

So is there any news of the re-signing of Kris ?

Considering the halfs on the market and Kris's promising form would be disappointing to see him go to the dogs !!!

I thought KK showed yesterday that he has the makings of a fine running half. He has a good kicking game as well.

He needs to get a little bit fitter as he's playing in the heavy traffic and is prone to rack up too many errors. NRL.com stats from yesterday showed that he had the most errors by far of any Eels player:-

12 tackles
5 missed tackles
2 ineffective tackles
3 errors
1 penalties against

what I found yesterday without seeing those stats was that he through himself at everything that was infront of him, he almost went out there with a point to prove.

No doubt about that and indeed I came away from the game impressed with his enthusiasm. His errors in the stats however sticks out like dogs balls.
