I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Take over the entire precinct at Sutherland oval. Develop that huge space next to the cemetery into a boutique 25k stadium, training fields next to it on Sutherland norths soccer fields. Relocate them maybe to Waratah ovals?
Buy Club East and make it a branch of the leagues club.

So instead off portaloos we replace the view with headstones.

Penrith getting a bandaid update that looks the same as before just to win votes. Shire seat is as safe as eggs so no extra money being thrown at us. We should tip the bandaid off, sell the ground for apartments and go to allianz. Thing is they won’t cos they are finally building the club. It’s a f**king mess.
Move to Allianz FT and I predict the club to wither into extinction of a relocation within 10 years.

There is just no way the fans will trek to Moore Park every second week for home games.

Well mate those that aren’t In a Stand at shark park won’t show up either. They’ve made it impossible to enjoy. Besides… it’s 9000 returning maybe 150k, reckon we’d get more if we moved it and sold the land

Actually someone who gives a shit can maybe give the game day stats. Don’t we need 11k to break even?

I’m not gonna argue about the dire state of Shark Park. It is a hovel. Moving matches to Moore Park is not the solution though.

Not knowing the area very well, I've always thought somewhere close to Miranda station or Sutherland station would be perfect for the Sharks. Close to transport and other amenities.
- Sutherland Oval
- Waratah Park
- Seymour Shaw
- Miranda Park

Maybe a land swap of sorts would work.

I maintain that if the NSW Govt is ever going to fund a high class sports ground in the Southern Sydney Region it would have to have a guarantee that both Cronulla-Sutherland and St.George Illawarra NRL teams would have to commit to it full time, and there would have to be State Transport already in existence.

From a Geographic sense, somewhere central to both clubs would be needed.
Waratah Oval behind Sutherland Leisure Centre is about the best bet to fit all of that criteria.
Distances by car.
23 mins to Sharks Leagues at Woollooware
25 mins to St.George League Club at Carlton
48 mins to WIN Stadium.

Of course this would also mean the State Govt would probably have to sell off Jubilee, and maybe WIN too.
The new ground would play host to all other major/minor rectangular ground needed sports from Kogarah/Shire/Gong regions.

I do not see any other alternative if brand new venue is to be created.
From a Sharks perspective I can see half of our home games being moved to the SFS.
I think this is what will happen.
I'd prefer a new shared venue.
As someone who does have great seats at our ground, if I didn't have them I wouldn't be going. Plain and simple. The ground at present is done.

Some screen shots of where in Loftus/Sutherland a new venue could be situated.

I think their best bet is to try and broker a deal with the council to allow for all the local team as has been mentioned to be able to play out of a new stadium/use the facilities etc.

Sell or give the current stadium site to the council for them to develop, with the agreement that the money made along with money from the sale is put into build a stadium elsewhere on council owned land, i.e. Sutherland, Waratah, Seymour Shaw etc. council and club have shared ownership? I don’t know, surely there is a solution which helps everyone but mostly us.

I'm fairly sure this was in the proposal for the upgrades if they were to go ahead and funded by the feds? or state?

I remember Loftus being spoke of and personally don’t like it.

The Dragons future is in the Gong. There will be enough opportunity of multi use in central Sutherland Shire for the likes of Waratahs and Sydney FC playing a couple home games a season there in addition to Sharks men’s and women’s.

Of course, getting the government to see that is another job, but I do envisage there would be a great opportunity for significant financial support from Westfield.

Loftus is just too far away. If Homebush has taught us anything, our sports precincts need to be located in bustling, entertainment friendly, commercial hubs. Miranda has it all.

Those clubs still need training spaces. I think converting Shark Park to a similar setup as Redfern as a CoE for League, Union and other sports adds to the project.

I do love spending other people’s money 😂
