Welcome to the 'I've given up on Parramatta' thread.

Sorry, but I will NEVER EVER condone putting the individual before the greater good of the club.

Honour and all that is very good, if you are the type to be happy going down with the ship. And I would agree that honour is very high on my list. But with honour you ignore the fact that accountability must also come.

You are, like a few others, extrememly loyal to Denis Fitzgerald.

Where is the accountability for his failures?

There is none. Never has been, and never will.

Fizgerald and the board may have signed a long term contract with Brian SMith. We didn't. So we suffer as out team suffers because honouring a contract with a dud is more important than the the best interests of the club.

Think about that, because I doubt that you have considered what is in the best interest of the club.

You have confirmed what I have been saying all along - that the emploment of Brian Smith and Denis Fitzgerald is of more importance than the sucess of the club. That is utterly pathetic.

Smith and Fizgerald must be held accountable. They are not, because a core group of fans who don't give a toss about on field achievements would rather see jobs for the boys than hard decisions made.

The difference between you and I, HJ, is that as a supporter, I am at my happiest when the Eels are flying. You are at your happiest when Brian Smith os employed.

And don't give me this crap about loyalty. If SMith was loyal to Parra he would do as he promised, and resign.

Colonel, why take the bad when we know it can be better?

Bottom line - loyalty is for husbands/wives, footy fans to their club coloours, and dogs. There is, and should never be loyalty to faiuled coaches and administrators who are making the club fail. I am loyal to Parramatta. You are loyal to Brian Smith.

There is the difference.

I am loyal to my club. As Brian Smith is part of that club until such time as the board sees fit to sack him or he walks then yes I suppose I am loyal to him. The fans have spoken and the club remains firm on their stance. The players have excepted blame for their onfield dilemmas and have come out in support of Brian. My opinion of this is that while it may not necessarily be in the long term interest of the club, if the players and board which make up the CLUB as a collective lend their support than I will do the same for the players and board.

YOU, Misty Bee, do not except mediocrity. But you will not stand behind your club at its lowest time when the fans support of the team is probably its biggest chance of changing a mediocre season.

I'm , sorry Misty but you obviously didn't understand what I wrote.

I used an objective framework and then applied it to a specific area.

Should contracts be honoured, in both good and bad times? (Nothing to with football, or Smithy, or Fitzy, just a general question)

I feel the answer is yes, that if you give your name that you give your word. And if you give your word then you must stick by it, no matter comes.

You can't then, if you agree with the above, simply change your mind because it involves Smith and/or the Eels. To do so would be hypocritical and inconsistent.

Perhaps you do not feel the need to abide by contracts, or your word, if things change for the worse. Perhaps you think the best option is to cut and run when the pressure comes down. I differ from you in this area of life, but we both have the right to make up our own minds.

For the record, this must then also apply to the Jamie Lyon situation. He should be a man of his word and return to the Eels.

Misty, we all know you want what is best for the club. But you are going the wrong way about it, and fail to see the irony of you personal agenda is also fuelling failure. The Players, the board, the coach, and some of the fans and pleading for support.

Colonel Eel summed it up pretty well:

Yes, Brian must go, and his time will come. But are you proud of yourself that you are best at being negative, rather than supportive? Yes, its hard to support such a hapless team, but when the going gets tough you should lead by example as a moderator on this board, and also as such a committed fan. Im sure there is noone here that can doubt your dedication to the eels.
