It was pretty cool to watch, but I guess not so much to play in.

On a different note, great that the RFL have embraced YouTube and are uploading highlights there now as well as the official website. The NRL could do with taking a leaf out of their book rather than bringing copyright claims on any clips that are uploaded...

Yeah it's great! After watching the Salford/Cas highlights I followed the related links and watched all the highlights...

Why have salford cheaped out on their stadium? So what if it costs 2 grand a day to run, you'll probably only need it two/three times a year anyway... Get serious.

Because they don't have a spare two grand a day knocking about. Plus you have to install the thing, which all in costs about £850,000 - £900,000.

Which considering they could only afford one stand, and its freaky weather which won't last much longer is a bit of a waste.

Well it's a hell of a lot cheaper than trying to install it after the stadium is built! They cut the original size of the stadium down by 6000 seats, why not sacrifice another 1000 seats for something like this!? 11,000 still would be more than adequate for a team like Salford...

They would need to use undersoil heating maybe once a year at a push. It would be stupid for them to cut capacity for something like that. A lot of new facilities don't have it, it's not economically viable at all.

But it's essential for it's sustainability as a stadium and as a business. Not having this means it will get less matches (therefore less income) from the likes of Rugby Union and Premier League reserve teams etc...

It's not essential at all. Despite what people may say, England's climate isn't similar to Siberia. There are plenty of soccer and RU grounds that don't have undersoil heating. Like I said, most modern stadiums are built without it.
