Well, i hope everyone has got out there this week, or at least kept up to date with the results
They have taken quite a liking to public transport however. So, travelling into the city everyday this week, i have had the 'pleasure' of sitting in carriages full of participants. I don't have anything against them, i don't agree with the lifestyle, but hell, you only live once, you should do as you please. Anyways, apart from all the 'what is your phone number' looks
, i have learnt a few things. They represent regions, not countries. Like they have 'Team DC' - which represents Washington. Another thing, you don't have to actually be gay to participate. I find that a bit weird, i mean, what is the point of having them if you are going to participate against straight people anyway? I dunno, maybe im missing something there. It is a huge event, and a lot of major sponsors such as Qantas have jumped on board.
Its sort of funny watching them interact. I don't mean that in an offensive or derogatory way at all, but i mean, most of the people on the trains look at them curiously, and they just act oblivious to it all. Its abit of a new experience for most people i think. I live around an area where id have to say that gay people are few and far between, and i can honestly say that i never knew a gay person at school. Seeing gay ppl at uni was a bit of a new experience as well, just never had exposure to it i guess.
Cheers,
Moffo
