So where do these blokes sit in history?

We've had some outstanding players across the eras - Tommy Bishop, Slugde, ET, Sparkles, Peach, Stevo etc etc.

Unfortunately none of those stars of eras past ever managed to get us over the line, although they came close on several occasions. I've always thought that if you were to name a Sharks greatest ever team, it would have to be dominated by players from the team who delivered the first trophy. With that in mind - which of our current mob would make the run on side in a Sharks greatest XIII?

Gallen, Fafita, Ennis, Maloney for me.

You can't compare The Menace to the likes of Turner and McMartin.

Those two were actually hookers and f**king good ones. They had to battle to win the scrums for us Sharkies.

I loved watching McMartin. He was a champion, not that Mick is either but they are from different eras.

I look at it this way.Every one of the players who represented the club through thick and thin, deserves to be in the honour roll. They eventually got the club to where it is today, via a growing fan base due to their efforts, and appearances in 3 grand finals plus semis.

I don't care if you are a Fred Dennehy,Ray Corcoran,Sparkles McGaw,John Maguire, even Steve Kneen, they formed the basis of what will now become a Super club, which started as from 3rd October 2016 AD.

Guys prepared to drop salaries, stand on street corners with buckets to keep the club afloat, donate buckets of blood to fertilise the field. They are all worthy.

The current squad has the will to win, something previous squads didn't have, they may have had a few stars in them but not the big tickers these guys have.

This is what I feel. This is our best ever coached team, their resilience, grit and determination and 100% focus got them over the line, though we've had teams with some more dazzling individual talent, but that hasn't got us to a premiership. The 2016 team had their shyt together from early in the season and looked a worthy challenger from the first victory over Melbourne in Round 4.

With even handed refereeing the '78 team would have been our first.......................but they weren't. This team seemed to be tremendously solid in everything they did. They earned their place in history with a record that will remain until the end of time - SHARKS FIRST PREMIERSHIP WINNING TEAM. Ripper!!!

Putting euphoria aside and trying to stay on the OPs topic in a few years from now when choosing a best Sharks ever team from composite eras there is no way the entire 2016 team makes it. No way.

ET and Sludge would never be left out of a composite team. I doubt Tommy and Cliff would either.

We've had 3 Rothmans medal winning halfbacks who would fall behind Tommy as well. Hughes, Russell and Green

This current team has it's own very special and unique place in history and no one can take that away but all 17 will never be considered the greatest Sharks ever when its put to the test

Tommy B first and forever foremost always.

He built the club and lead always at the front. He wasn't a player that you built a side around he was the player that they built the club around.

If we didn't have Tommy I can assure you that none of us would of been cheering the sharks on last Sunday. Simple as that.

Can you let me know when you plan to tell Gavin Miller that he didn't have enough ticker?

Surely as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations the club will be naming a new greatest ever team?'

Will be an interesting exercise, I was looking at the dream team named in 2006 recently and thinking, who since then would fit in and that was before we won the premiership.

He was on our train the other night. Why he was on the train and not in a stretch limo, I have no idea but he was there grinning ear to ear. Bloke could have push started the train if necessary.
Live long and prosper Gavin
