Does anyone reckon we'd keep Kev? I've seen a few people suggest we might let him go, which surprises me a little. Our wingers currently are McManus and Aku, and while we have Lulia, Likiliki and Mata'utia, I don't think any of them have winger listed at the top of their resume. We also don't have any wingers in NYC really putting their hands up for first grade either.

Kev would be on minimum wage surely, and he has a lot of similarities to Aku a few years ago - surely a year or two under Bennett's tutelage would see him play at least 10-15 first grade games (and potentially unearth another gun winger) given Aku and McManus would be extremely unlikely to play every match?

i'm not saying we'd let him go, i'm saying he'll feel stuck behind McManus and Aku, which he definitely is, and may seek first grade opportunities elsewhere... especially if his brother leaves.

what happens if Boyd comes, in your opinion, Pika? you've been rubbishing people having a crack at De Gois a lot the past few days, but it seems a viable option to groom Gidley for hooker if he does come... and obviously the Buderus rumours are only adding fuel to the fire.

if Boyd does come, we have too many of something... and someone is going to have to be shifted to accomodate.

Degois is a hard one, would love to keep him i would resign him he is a great hooker, but it looks like he could be on the outer specially if boyd comes. gidleys gotta play somewhere n i reckon it should be centre but it would probly be hooker with bedsy off the bench possibly?????

Gidley to Centre is a nice idea but will never happen, we get Boyd its obvious Isaac is gone, maybe with Bedsy for a cameo for a season. IE Priddis mentoring Young.

He was part of the 'expect' to be moved on. I'd love to sign him up for a few more years. But if we get Boyd and lose Ike and not going to be complaining.

Gids is incerdible value as a utility, but he is not a patch on Degois when it comes to the hooker position.

With Hilder and Gids filling in we have lacked a lot of direction and spark from dummy half.

I guess if Bedsy comes back he takes on the mentoring role with Chad and he is groomed for the long term hooker position.

But until Bedsy is confirmed, I think DeGois is a must as we have noone ready to play a genuine hookers role.

fair call, and i don't necessarily disagree. i thought Gids could do the job of filling in for a year if mentoring was on the cards... particularly if Buderus comes on as you said. some of Gids' most potent games have been from dummy half. most of his best work with the ball in hand comes from dummy half. his defence in the line is good.

i think the reality is that shuffling Goisey out is one of the much neater fits at the moment given contract situations and recruitment targets. that is the reason everyone is on it, including myself to an extent. i like De Gois, but i wouldn't lose sleep if Boyd came and we lost him, either.

Gids jumping in at dummy half from time to time in the fullback role against a broken line and tired markers is outstanding.

Gids there on every play making decisive decisions is not so good.

Its a tough call.

I rank hooker up there with the halves as the most important position on the field. I just dont think you can risk a utility in the position.

that's a fair call. i don't back Gidley to make the right decision from dummy half consistently. not at all.

It's the speed of service from dummy half that the most obvious difference between Isaac and the other two. Hilder and Gids need to work on their distribution it's a step behind Isaac and it certainly hinders us coming off of our line and inside the opposition 20.

The unique ability to get the best out of an individual might see Chad, Gids, DeGois or whoever it may be take the hooking role to the next level.

This. We are busy trying to find a way to get rid of De Gois but we are down one centre for next year. Gidley is needed in the centres - a Gidley/Uate combination could be fantastic.
