The squad has been named, the stadiums are being prepared, Bangkok businesses are jacking up their prices. It's one month away from the Socceroo's inaugural appearance in the Asian Cup. I'm travelling to Thailand from June 27th to July 21st. Unfortunately I won't be around for the latter stages of the tournament because I'll have to be returning to Uni, but I booked tickets this morning to the Iraq match on the 13th and the Thailand match on the 16th. Cost me 20 bucks for both games, including credit card surcharge. :thumn

Yeah, the exy'er of the two was about 15 bucks a seat, three rows back from the sideline, in the centre of the field. The other match cost around five bucks a pop, two rows back behind the goal.

So you're gonna go to the quarter final too? (Presuming that we'll be playing in it)

I haven't actually made an itinerary yet, only have my flights and match tickets booked. I'm flying into Phuket and I've got about 23 days, and I wanna try and fit in Koh Pha-Ngan, Phuket, Ubon Ratchathani, Chiang Mai, Ayuthaya, Sukhothai and Tiger Temple at Ranchanaburi. Might be pushing it for all of that, but I only plan to stay in Bangkok from the 13th-17th. Did you have to get a visa to go to Cambodia, or are you just free to cross over from Thailand with your passport?

You need a visa. You can get them at the border, although as the Cambodian embassy is less than 5km from my house, we got them before we left. The places you mention should be doable in 23 days, Ayuthaya and the Tiger Temple are both day trips from Bangkok. We're going to be buggered when we get back 4 flights before 9am in 10 days!

Going over the 7th...come back after quarter final on the 24th. Going to Koh Chang between games 1-2, then Koh Samui between game 3 and the quarter final. Costing $1600 for flights (inc internal) and accomodation. SO cheap.
