Grand final sold out
September 26, 2005

THE NRL has officially declared Sunday's NRL grand final a sellout with the last 7000 tickets snapped up in 40 minutes this morning.

Fans had been queuing since lunchtime yesterday to grab the last remaining tickets for the premiership decider between the Wests Tigers and North Queensland Cowboys at Telstra Stadium.

Tickets went on sale from 9am, with 1500 gone in five minutes and nearly 3000 sold after 10 minutes.

All tickets were sold by 9.40am.

The NRL said it would continue locating and cancelling tickets that are bought outside the terms and conditions.

Well honestly what did we expect, there were what 43,000 there on Saturday night plus 20,000 who couldn't get tickets! It was impossible to satisfy everyone. That is reality!

there'll be about 6 pages of every newspaper dedicating sales of grand final tickets from the dragons and parra fans

that's the only chance of getting some now

I can't see why anybody would whinge...there were 7000 tickets available and because tickets were limited to 4 per head this limited the scope for oppurtunism. I'm sure that 99.9% of those tickets were taken by genuine league supporters.

I do get upset that people buy tickets early with the sole intention of selling them on at extortionate prices and that the NRL has such feeble measures in place to prevent such nefarious practices. But as I have said this wasn't the case today.

I missed out but I'm not bitter at all. Leagues club will be buzzing anyhow!!

This is obviously to prevent scalping and is a good thing in general, but where does it leave St George/Parra fans who want to sell off their tickets because their teams have been knocked out? Are they legally allowed to do this as long as they don't sell them at inflated prices? You'd hope that the NRL are going to be relatively understanding about this, espcecially given the number of people who'd be more than happy to purchase them.

Im sick of people moaning about not getting a ticket, i bought mine like a month ago and cant wait for it. You cant just wait to see if your team is going to make it, it will be way to late.

people can sell their tickets for face value legally

alot of newspaper ads never state a price. they just negotiate the price over the phone

Fantastic news! The real shame is that the majority would have been given to sponsors etc months ago! Hopefully both sets of fans are well represented!
