4 of the 11 grand finals in the 90s are being replayed this weekend.

92- Broncos vs Dragons
93 Broncos vs Dragons
94- Bulldogs vs Raiders
97 Manly vs Knights

youd think they might include the 1999 GF (storm of course) instead of one of the dragons v broncos games.

i think he meant in a literal sense of those teams are facing each other this week as opposed to them being replayed on fox sports or something

I just checked the Fox TV Guide on the website and couldn't find anything.......

Because he is saying that the teams that played the GFs in them years are playing against eachother in the forst week of the semis. Somehow trying to emphasize how good this Final series will be

i think he is implying that while alot of things in this game have change, the powerhouses of yester year are still reigning supreme

Yep, that was my take on it.

Problem is, in between (1998-2005), things changed quite a lot, and we had 7 different winners.

actually brisbane has won it twice, in 1998 and 2000 but the rest have all been different.

between 1999 and 2005 we have had a unique premiers team each year!
1999 - Melbourne Storm
2000 - Brisbane Broncos
2001 - Newcastle Knights
2002 - Sydney Roosters
2003 - Penrith Panthers
2004 - Canterbury Bulldogs
2005 - Wests Tigers
2006 - ???

If the trend was to continue it would be either:
- St George Illawarra Dragons
- Parramatta Eels
- Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
- Canberra Raiders

Will definately be an interesting finals series.

interesting to note that if that above trend continues, the winner will come from outside the top 4
Which means there is going to be some upsets in this finals series. Maybe a tiger esque rise... Dont like Parra's chances in Olympic at all, i think thats a gimmie game, which would leave 3 potential teams as new premiers. All whom are probably capible of taking it out
Cant wait

Though if you take the teams that have had 50 or more put on em thru the year, out of the four that would continue the 'different premiers' trend'...that leaves only Manly & Parra.

However, countering that stat is the fact that the Raiders have never failed to win a premiership when one of their players was awarded Dally M Fullback of the Year
