Watto back to his hundred avoiding best. Having said that, better he goes out scoring 90s opening than sweet feck all down the order.

Now lets see if HAH can get back into the swing of things by poking some wide shit straight to gully.

Australians 4/266

Cowan 3

Where does Cowan bat in the first test

Watson
Rogers
Hughes
Clarke (said he will bat here)

That looks likely the top 4. Or will he get dropped??

I would leave COwan out for the first test, h hasn't scored a run out there all summer.

Uzzie has been poor as well in recent times. I guess the Aussies best top 4 is this.

1. Shane Watson
2. Dave Warner
3. Chris Rogers
4. Michael Clarke

Since Warner isn't going to play in the first test then the team will be the one hiney posted.

Tell you what, look out England.

Australia can pack a punch now that their attitude appears to be sorted, and the poms are not as great as they think they are, suddenly these Ashes got interesting.

Just like I called it Watson and Hughes had great days.

Surely Cowan can't be picked. He hasn't done anything in a long time. Hughes finished India well and now looks on his way to a big score here. Watson is a lock for opener. Rogers actually has scored runs. Cowan is the odd man out.

Watson
Rogers
Hughes

should be the top order. If they do well I hope Warner doesn't get back in.

Put your house on Watson and Hughes to get big scores.
nek minnit

Watson 90
Hughes 76 n.o.

BM knows.

Those two are now locked in as two thirds of our top order. Just need to decide between Rogers and Cowan. I prefer Rogers.

They need to deliver when it counts champ, save your hard on.

Siddle is a concern 1/117 from 27 overs match figures

no one is gonna be selected on one performance
Hughes was one of our best batsmen over the last two tests in India, combine that with his runs here and it's a lot more than one performance. He's not getting dropped. Watson has been all but confirmed as an opener. It leaves one slot in the top 3 available.

Logic would suggest it's Rogers or Cowan, but we might just be stupid enough to play Warner on absolutely no match practice.
