Song of the moment

I wanted to have a thread where people aired their current favourite song of the moment and do it in a way that other people (like myself) could discover some new music they didn't otherwise know of.

What you do is list the song and artist, what genre it is and why the song is so good.

It can be something simple, like Acca Dacca - Dirty Deeds - Heavy Rock - because it's f**king tops, or something a bit more in depth about why you rate the song.

If the song doesn't really fit a genre just say which one it contains that appeals to you the most.

To kick things off, I'll start:

Kyuss - Demon Cleaner. Heavy/stoner rock.
This song was performed by Tool at a few shows and with good reason - it's an awesome heavy track with thumping percussion. One of the few songs I like that gets you hooked in the first bar or two. Good driving song.

Let's hear what you are all listening to and why it's so good!

Opeth - The Drapery Falls - Progressive Death/Folk metal

Now, don't let the name fool you. Opeth are one band that can bridge the gap between metal fans and non-metal fans. They will move seamlessly between haunting folk music with beautiful vocals to powerful riffs with death vocals and back again. Even if it doesn't sound like your thing, it's well worth a listen.

Other Opeth tracks I recommend to a metal beginner:

Beneath The Mire
Windowpane (all acoustic)
To Bid You Farewell

yep ! ( don't worry I'm just as shocked)

I must agree ...hard to tell it's ween.

I like that Mia Dyson song...sort of slow almost country blues.

Ween are so damn diverse - I mean Mutilated Lips sounds like nothing else they have done - thats what i like about them.

Any band that can use insolent and malevolence is alright by me :)

(and yes...I was shocked...I saw the quote and thought "he's gonna rip me a new one..." Glad we agree on Ween!)

The bands called Fort Minor, and that song is awesome!!!

Fav song at the momment:
The End-Roadrunner United, I don't know when it was released but I heard it on Channel V and i love it. I don't know what genre you would put it in, sorta dark rock/soft metal? Either way, its so good!

32nd of December by Babyshambles. Drug addled rock n roll at its finest. As much as their is to hate about Pete Doherty, he has his head screwed on the right way when it comes to rockin' out.
