City of Seattle settled with the owners for $41m and the city keeps the name and colours. Man that sucks. Just as they're rebuilding with some nice young players.

Awesome news (for Oklahoma City)

I lived just south of OKC for 4 years and the new NBA team will be the state's first real professional team.

I now have a new favourite NBA team

Seattle gets to keep the name and colours

"The settlement calls for Bennett and his Professional Basketball Club LLC to pay as much as $75 million to the city in exchange for the immediate termination of the lease. The team’s name and colors will be staying in Seattle."

as a sonics fan its very sad stuff.

hopefully an expansion team will come seattles way in the next few years.


its a long shot but its not yet over for the current sonics team in seattle. The former owner howard shultz is still continuing with his law suit to get the team back.

Stern first said that if the sonics left there would be no expansion team.

but in the last few days he has said that if key arena gets an upgrade in the next 5 years there is a decent chance of a new team.

If not an expansion team chances are good one of Memphis , New orleans or Sacramento could be on the move.
