Hobart?

As in Hobart that's smaller than Canberra, Wollongong, Gosford, Newcastle, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Hobart?

Part of it comes with the fact that controlling atleast one Friday Night Football Broadcast was regarded as a key component by Channel 7 in giving them the edge over 9 to become the highest rating TV station. Since RL didn't put its rights to tender (Which, if you cast your mind back to 2005, pissed Stokes off something severe), Seven desperately needed the AFL rights. There's a sh*tload of prestige that comes with being the Number one station.

Ten makes practically nothing off of its Saturday night Swans and Lions broadcasts btw...

Yes hobart. Sure it only has a population of 200 000 but it is still a state capital.

So the friday night AFL in other states cancells the NRL in nsw/qld ?

I understand that being number one is huge in terms of advertising ad prestige eg nines ' where still the one ' slogan.

They effectively cancel each other out.

By having one, it puts the breaks on Ch9 dominating Friday nights
