but wtf were you thinking?

kick the ball to Turner :?

i fail to see how that could win us the match and it wasted so many attacking opportunities

Easier said than done.

DA took us to a GF in his 1st year with us. No one expected us to be in the GF this year. This is not time to criticize DA's tactics. DA got us to the GF, he deserves some credit.

Bottle it up and get ready for next year.

I thought we kicked toward Slater a fair amount of times, and tackled him and hurt him a bit. Turner had a better game than expected.

Bottom line Melbourne had better execution and less erros on the day, we were beaten by the better team and will be better for the experience next year.

Thanks Ridders ;-).

Melbourne really did their homework and shut Jarryd down well today.

I think the fact that the refs let Melbourne lay in the play the ball as much as they want went a great distance to shutting us (not just Jarryd) down.

Melbourne being the grubbiest team in the comp helps them win but hey, until the NRL does something about it they will keep doing it and winning.

We could have lowered oursleves to their level but didn't and we were still fairly close at the end, next year we will be better!

I agree with your summation. I ended up going to the game (last minute) and it appeared (though I could not tell because of where we sat) that Melb were not having to defend the 10 meters for much of the game. I could not tell if the constant booing was just bias from Eels supporters or was genuine grievance for Melb getting away with the 10 meters. If this is true then the refs had a great involvement in shutting down the Eels attacking game. I am going to watch the whole game over the coming week to observe just the 10 meter rule. What does anyone else have to say about this?

Anyway.. congratulations goes to the Melb Storm for being the better team on the day.

Oooohhh well, I really thought that the Eels attacking game would blow the storm off the park in the 2nd half. It just wasn't to be. The try scored by Inglis off the high kick in the 2nd half was brilliantly planned & executed. 10/10 for that one. Slater was not man of the match. There were a few Storm forwards who played much better than Slater did.

A few very ordinary missed tackles by players who have been so good on our brilliant run really showed their inexperience......that was the diifference......

2 of those may not be with us next year!
