Sorry state boys & girls- 2007 was bad year for us that we have not recovered from by the looks of it. General comment- trying to buy on the cheap has failed spectacularly for WT's- some bad hunch buys and players going elsewhere for better opportunities.

im pretty confident we'll get good value from corey payne this year. due to his back loaded contract we will be paying him approx $350k.

last year he was on about $50k (the minimum wage) and gee he played like it! if he is consistent and plays to what he is being paid then we're in for a stellar year.

or he could do an O'Hara and just bludge his way through his last few years while taking up a huge chunk of the cap

Have to say in 3 years of recruitment- 2006- 08- there are only 3 players which have given any real value - Galloway, Morris (hack, hack, cough, cough- I know) & Matthew Head.

Yeah but it's out fault we offered him so much. Morris is rubbish but at least he tries which is more than can be said for some of our pack.. cough Gibbs cough

well apart from whatuira your 05 recruitment was labelled pretty bad by most people, saying you couldnt win the comp with untried juniors and rugby recruits(timm mcgann who spent the year with balmain before going back to easts ru) and you guys won i reckon the two best signings you ever made were hodgo and prince back in 04

Speaking of McGann, can all you Balmainazis finally apologise for getting stuck in when I said McGann was worse than useless and Saffy a raw talent that would go on?

Corey Payne is a 100k a year player every year, he's a small backrower, plenty of those in NSW/QLD cup
