hey guys thought id make a new thread and save time digging around to bump the original soundwave thread.

Well its only 2 weeks away now and with so little time Soundwave have been thrown a massive blow with one of their headliners pulling out....what timing aye??

THANKFULLY its NOT Faith No More but My Chemical Romance and again thankfully theyre replaced by the great Jimmy Eat World.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Okay guys, let's keep this clean. We'll lock the other threads.
Any FAQ's will be answered and posted in this thread

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE regretfully announce that they have been forced to cancel all upcoming engagements, including their appearance at The Soundwave Festival in Australia. Singer Gerard Way has been having severe vocal problems and is under doctor's advisement to forgo the tour in order to receive treatment for his throat and vocal chords and protect their long-term use.

“We are really sorry that we’ve had to cancel this tour, and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused,” says singer Way. “The last thing we ever want to do is cancel shows, but we’ll be back to Australia to make it up to the fans as soon as possible.”

Patrons holding tickets to the MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE show at the Big Top, Luna Park on Thu 25 Feb are advised to contact their point of purchase to arrange a full refund of their tickets.

Soundwave would like to thank the ever brilliant JIMMY EAT WORLD who are interrupting their recording schedule in order to replace MCR on this year’s Soundwave bill.

JIMMY EAT WORLD have consistently held the number 1 spot as the most requested band by Soundwave fans (and staff!) and we look forward to having them on the festival after so many years of trying!

We are also thrilled to announce that JIMMY EAT WORLD will now join the already massive sideshow of GLASSJAW, SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE, MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK AND RX BANDITS.

TUESDAY 23 FEBRUARY SYDNEY, UNSW ROUNDHOUSE – Licensed All Ageswww.ticketek.com.au 132 849

THURSDAY 25 FEBRUARY MELBOURNE, PALACE THEATRE – 18+www.ticketek.com.au 132 849

FAQ'S

Mike Patton is God.

Ain't that the truth. Last night FNM were incredible. Seen patton in action plenty of times with Mr Bungle, Tomahawk and Fantomas but that set last night trumps all of them. He is the best live performer I have ever seen, bar none. Most casual fans would probably say most of FNM's stuff is hit and miss recorded, but I don't think you'll find one person in the crowd that wasn't gobsmacked with how brilliant they were live.

FNM were good, but band of the day was Anthrax. Spectacular! Anvil were worth looking at too.

FNM and Anthrax were my highlights in Brisbane.
Mike Patton is a brilliant live performer. First time seeing Mike perform and he is a brilliant show man.

I saw Taking Back Sunday, Alexisonfire, Meshuggah, Trivium, The Almost, HIM and Enter Shikari. Enter Shikari were definitely a highlight.

Getting to Eastern Creek wasn't the problem, it was getting back to Central. It took 1/2 an hour to get a bus to Blacktown Station, then caught the 'express' train to Central, which was limited stops to Strathfield, then every stop until Central. Took way over an hour.

No love for Janes Addiction? I thought they were tremendous as well.

I wished I was deaf while Jane's Addiction were playing. Most pretentious and pathetic band on the planet.

Anthrax are always awesome seen em 5 times now, they didn't disappoint as usual. Caught in a Mosh and Safe Home always get the crowd going.

But words cannot describe how brilliant FNM were. I am in awe every time I see Patton perform.

Mike Patton sang a cover of 'Pokerface' that was pretty cool. It was funny how much he looked like a cheesy 80's porn star- he had the slicked back hair, the mo and these shimmery grey pants on!

I 3rd/4th FNM's brilliance.

chr!st, this is the first time I have ever agreed with you KM!!!

i went to the Horden last night, I was blown away by FNM, simply superb.

Didn't need the bull$hit pyro or blow up dolls on a train like that old fart band down the road that played last night did. Powder blue, pink and orange Suits, Red curtains and a $hitload of talent was all they needed to entertain us, and that they did. I still have goosebumps from hearing 'last cup of sorrow'.........

the only downer was the venue, seriously, they could have played at such a larger venue, I felt sorry for the people that I walked past that were desperate for tickets, some looked pretty distraught at the fact they were going to miss out on the gig..........

They better come back!!!!

I hope so too. I'd love for FNM to release another album, then do a standard headlining world tour. Play two hour shows, that would be bloody awesome.

Not sure if it will happen given how many other side projects Patton likes to do.

Now they're back though, I think they're bigger than when they released AOTY. Could be wrong, just how it seems to me though.

Sunny Day Real Estate: Not great
Taking Back Sunday: pretty good
Eagles of Death Metal: loved them
Alexisonfire: Great
Glassjaw: loved them
Reel Big Fish: my first pit of the day sweating sooo much but well worth it, played a cover of enter sandman hahaha
Placebo: Average
AFI: Davey Havok is a great front man
Janes Addiction: Great to watch
Anti-Flag: So much fun
Jimmy Eat World: meh, i like them on cd thats all
A Day To Remember: Sound was muffled but entertaining
Faith No More: BRILLIANT!!! WOW!!!!
This Is Hell: surpisngly great punk/hardcore
Him: sh*t! hate them so much was walking past on my way to this is hell and was bored out of my skull

an advantage to the day in sydney is the mainstage bands got pushd back (someone ran overtime) so i was able to watch a few bands for a couple of songs

i went to the ADTR sideshow last night, they were amazing and set your goals were cool too

 You were doing so well agreeing with me and all, then you had to say this!

Then you say this. Couldn't agree more. I'll call this post a draw.
